May God grant you always

A sunbeam to warm you

A moonbeam to charm you

A sheltering Angel

So nothing can harm you

Laughter to cheer you

Faithful friends near you

And whenever you pray,

Heaven to hear you.

Hi, I am Barbara....I was born in northern California - the second and last child to Norman and Fay Jones. My father was a rancher (raised almonds; yes, that's why I'm such a nut at times). My mother was a school teacher (my teacher for most of my grade school years). I couldn't get away with anything!! I did have a very happy childhood; my parents were good to me and I thanked them many times for "clamping down" on me when necessary. My sister, Norma, still lives in northern California.

Mom and Dad

During my senior year in high school, I worked part time at our local radio station. This is where I met my future first husband, Herb. After graduation I went to what was then called Chico State College for a year before getting married. A few years later Herb was called to Heaven due to a heart attack. Herb and I had one daughter, Le-etta Fay. She is my angel here on earth. Wasn't always like this, but he have survived the "growing up" years.

A year after Herb's death, I met my future second husband, Jim. We had 30 wonderful years together. He, unfortunately, had bestowed upon him the horrible disease, Alzheimers and on November 13, 1997 was also called to Heaven when he came down with pneumonia.

During my working years I was employed by the State of California - a few years in the Labor Commissioner's Office in Los Angeles and a few years with the California Highway Patrol in Newhall, California. I was a secretary )Thank goodness I took shorthand and typing in high school). I loved what I was doing and like the people I worked with. I retired on disability because something upset my ears and it sometimes causes me to be dizzy. (Those who know me, no comments, please.)

I have hobbies that tend to keep me busy and out of trouble - most of the time. I play duplicate bridge at a nearby club and also attend tournaments out of town. I am also a crafter of sorts. I love doing bird houses and sun catchers. Have a few other things I create for gifts for family and friends. Another hobby for years has been my doll collection. I'm afraid the 1994 earthquake "banned" my babies to their boxes so they would be safe.

One of my biggest activities is being involved with GROWW - Grief Recovery due to the loss of a loved one. I was surfing the net one night about 9 months after Jim died; I was really depressed and down on me when I stumbled on this thing called GROWW. I thought, "Well, won't do any harm to see what it's all about". There to greet me were some very wonderful loving, caring people in the chat room - among them was Judy, the Founder of GROWW. I received such a wonderful welcome and hugs and was assured that it is OK to cry and grieve my loss. I saved my life that night. I have made some wonderful friends at GROWW; they are always there to listen and to help any way they can. I have become a Host in the Grief Recovery Room and love every minute of it. I have a sense of fulfillment.
