Bonnibooks

AUTHOR BIO:

Bonnie fell in love with her Marine when they met at the May Company candy counter. Her journey through life has encompassed many roles, including Senior Secretary of the Space Physics Lab, Marine Corps wife, Idaho farm wife, home school teacher, customer service rep, medical secretary, payroll coordinator, and FBI applicant. She made it through the testing, interviews and background check before deciding on another job, but used the experience in one of her books.

Bonnie started writing while living in a 10' x 50' trailer with her husband and five sons as the family built their own house in WA state. She's sold five novels, over sixty-five non-fiction articles, two poems, and Chicken Soup is considering her dachshund cartoons for an upcoming book. Her full-time job is in the field of child support.

As soon as the Drury clan moved to Sacramento in 1985, Bonnie joined the Sacramento Valley Rose chapter of RWA and served as secretary, tape librarian, and writes motivational articles for the chapter newsletter. "What a great group, always cheering each other on."

"Writing makes me feel complete," she says. "It's a good thing I'm Missouri-born and stubborn as a mule, or I wouldn't have persevered. Good things do happen to those who don't know how to give up."

Bonnie says she owes a lot to her first critique group, Seannchae, which means "storyteller" in gaelic. Pam, Marilyn, Willo, Norma, Janice, Katie, Barthe, Irene, Bev, and their beloved Jo, all inspired and encouraged.

DAUGHTER OF THE HEART, the first book sold, came about while researching another story idea. "I learned that 5000 teenagers are buried in unmarked graves every year," she says. "This story had to be told."

I hope my readers laugh a little, cry a little, and remember my stories.
