Chapter 3

Howie's View

"Did that just happen?" Nick was curled up in a ball behind the couch with a pillow over head.

"Sorry to say it did. One question is why. Another is who was the I Know What You Did Last Summer reject. The last one is who was the Power Ranger wanna-be?" AJ was trying to lighten up the place but there was something about the ninja we knew.

Brian was in the place where it had disappeared. "Can you feel it?"

I finally found my own voice. "Feel what?"

"That feeling! It's like a combination of fear, peace, hope, determination, and sadness."

Kevin got up from his corner and went over to Brian. He looked him in the eye and said, "Cous, are you okay?"

"You mean none of you can feel it?" We all shook our heads. "Then why can I?" We shrugged our shoulders in response. He looked around as if he were expecting something to come crashing down on him. Then he spotted the phone on its side. He picked up the receiver, waited for a dial tone, then called a number. "Shane? It's Brian. Yeah look--" We could frantic screaming coming from the other end. "Shane we're fine but we've had a bit of trouble. We need you here quick."

AJ's View

Ten minutes later Shane and Brian were standing in the spot where the ninja had become a poof of air. "Can you feel it Shane? The other said they couldn't."

"Yeah I feel it. I wonder…"

"What?"

"We need to get back to the arena. I want to check something."

"I knew it. It's here too." We were standing on the stage about ten feet away from where the sandbag had crashed through. On the way, Shane told us about what happened to him. "And when I sat up, he or she was gone. I didn't notice this before because I was too worried about you guys." I looked around and said, "Do you do you think it was?" Shane and Brian shot a glance at each other.

"Shane we'd better tell them." We sat down and they began with what happened at the grave.

"Why didn't you tell us?" Kevin was pissed off and wasn't afraid to show it.

Brian shrugged. "Something just didn't seem right at the time so we kept quiet. But now looks like a good time to tell you out guesses. We think the reason only Shane and I can feel the presence is because whoever the ninja is told us they'd be back so it only seems right. Second when the ninja looked at me it was like it was telling me something." Brian took a deep breath before he went on. "As of now, because all of this, we have reason to believe that the blue ninja is Kat."

Nick's View

As crazy as it sounded, it made sense. "Now what about the masked man? He sure ain't the Lone Ranger."

Brian smiled for the first time that day. "I'm not sure about him. He thinks Kat's death is our fault so he could be trying to get revenge on us."

AJ spoke up. "So if he's out to kill us then Kat's been sent to keep us safe?"

"Could be."

"But that doesn't mean we should let our guard down," Kevin warned, "if it is Kat, she may not be completely supernatural. She may not be able to cast a spell to keep us out of harm's way. And by judging what's already happened, I'm pretty sure that much is true."

"Right. Watch your backs," ordered Shane, "we're going to Radio Shack in the morning and we're going to get these special radios that if one of us talks all the rest will know about it. We're gonna use them if we get in a situation. If this really is Kat, we have to help her out. Who knows? She could be getting a second chance at life." We thought about that for awhile. We all felt that Kat had a great future ahead of her and that she left prematurely. Maybe the Creator did too.
