IGNORANCE IS BLISS?

Is our history important? I think so but many feel that it has nothing to do with them today. Look in the mirror and you see a Filipino. Our history has given us the opportunity to be where we are today. I am sick and tried of Filipinos that are so ignorant about who they are and where they are from. IGNORANCE IS NOT AN EXCUSE. For those who were raised in America it is not their fault. I know that the western ways have influenced the way people think. Not being around our culture day to day, makes it hard for people to appreciate it. I hope that younger Filipinos are willing to learn about our history and culture because it will only help them in the future, when they encounter issues concerning our Filipino community.

For those that don't want to learn, I wish you luck. Because this world is cruel and when you don't get that job or when you are in a relationship that doesn't work, don't be so shocked. I'm not saying that you should learn everyhing but maybe start off with, where your parents are from and go from there. The only way people can keep up in this world is if they are willing to learn. Starting with who you are.
