TOOLS FOR THE GAMING ENTHUSIAST

You've got a fancy computer and want to play the hottest computer games around but don't know where to begin. Look no further because we'll help you out. For starters, games have evolved since the days of "Doom" and new genres like sports, fantasy role playing, and online games have arrived. While some games require minimal system requirements, others take advantage of the latest technology developments and demand the top of the line hardware be used to run them sufficiently. Since most of us are avid gamers, we'll show how easy it is to get started.

If you bought your computer system within the last two years, you're pretty much fine but anything purchased at least within the late 1990s, needs a major overhaul. Your processor or CPU should be either a Pentium III or Athlon K7 type with at least 700 Mhz speed. Since the CPU is the brain, the faster the better, to handle all the processes required by the game and other computer functions. While the latest processor offerings from Intel and AMD are a generation ahead and hovering around 3.006 Mhz, we still believe you're getting the best value and performance around with our recommendations. There's really no need to break the bank for your pleasure and you'll need the extra change for all the games you'll be playing.

The amount of memory or RAM is important too. If you are running Windows 98 then 256 MB of memory is fine but if you've got Windows XP, then consider at least 512 MB. The memory determines how fast the data will load for the game. So upgrade this amount wisely and whats even better is that memory prices have come down, so good for you! We do suggest that you consider getting double data rate memory known as DDR, which will significantly increase your overall computing and gaming activities. Check first if your motherboard supports this.

Hard drive space is just as important as most games are huge space hogs now. There are some good prices for 80 GB of storage. Downloading and downloading will reduce your space in an instant!

Well, we hope you enjoyed our guide. Happy gaming!
