Animals are meant, safest and made to be happiest when in company with its own species. Man is no different. Filipinos act and behave exactly the same. Ifugaos just demonstrate it in greater details, much deeper dedication and in the unique Ifugao style. Over the years, Ifugaos trickled over to this wonderful promise land of sort, be it expeditionary or in search for the BETTER. Individually they did, but by the mystical guidance and direction of the Big Man above, they found themselves in pockets of cities of this big country. One at a time, they slowly came to meet and know one another until they came to know everyone in their respective areas. Naturally, the saying - "Birds of the same feather flock together " came into play.

San Diego and Los Angeles, California are these typical areas. At first, there was just the knowledge of everyone's presence in the area then came the natural cycle of life - consisting of bad and good of course. Bad incidents befell some individual families where needed help of any kind was very much needed but unfortunately wasn't there or nowhere to be found. No one knows that such a thing is happening except the victims. Some individuals learned of these after the fact and were deeply hurt by the overall scope of the incidents. This is not how these things are handled at home and this is not how our forefathers handled similar incidents during their time. If they were around, they would probably give us an advice or two. They came together, they worked hard together, they enjoyed good things together and they shared the burden of any hardship together. This special traits and many more good things in our rich culture, customs and traditions need to be practiced, exercised, polished, preserved by us and passed down to our progenies. This mission is a failure from the very start if tackled by one individual but promises positive and successful results if done by all of us, as a group. Individually, we can be weak but together, we can weather anything and deliver an incredible punch. Accepting this concept fully, this few proponents decided to call everyone together for a meeting and propose the idea of organizing or coming together as a solid body.

On February 10, 1996 at Admiral Baker's Field, Ifugaos in San Diego had their first meeting and unanimously carried that they should come together as a people and function as one for the benefit of all. On February 18, 1996 at Mr. David De Leon's residence, the Ifugaos in Los Angeles held a similar meeting with similar objectives. These two activities happened in these two areas without any prior contact or discussion of anyone from each area. Knowledge of these two occasions eventually reached members of the two groups. Soon, the leaders from each group contacted one another and set a meeting of all available members of the two groups to meet and get to know one another better.

This meeting was on March 17, 1996 and held at the Dawa's residence at Cerritos, Long Beach, California. It was successful, enjoyable and went as good as expected. Both groups found out that they were shooting at similar objectives. During this meeting, it was decided that the two groups should merge as one entity under the agreed name - IFUGAO REUNION. This is the birth of our organization and how we came to be what we are today. We intend to live forever, for as long as there are Ifugaos in San Diego and Los Angeles. We look forward to getting better everyday we exist and we aim to propagate the idea to other cities and areas of the United States of America and Canada. A tough job, we understand, but with the help of our fellow Ifugaos in those areas, we are confident we shall one day succeed.
