Graphics
The graphics in
Turok 2: Seeds of Evil
are amazing. The textures of the stone, the weapon detail, and the character animation are stunning. The dinosaurs are realistic for a video game and you can even see the sharp teeth on some of the dinosaurs.
Music
The music can be too loud for the game, so be sure that the music isn't so loud that you can't hear the sound effects. The music provides a nice background, but it isn't something to talk too much about.
Sound FX
This is a great part of the game. The sounds can really scare you when you're low on health and you hear footsteps behind you. Or when you turn a corner and you hear a loud scream as a dinosoid leaps at you... but you'll want to kill those children too, as they keep saying, "Help me, Turok!" and cry. Still, be sure to keep this turned up.
Fun Factor
This game is really fun, but there are many things that could have been done better. The save points are really far apart, leaving no place to save. Also, nothing can make a gamer more angry than when they are proceeding through a difficult level and the game locks up. It just freezes. Still, the game is great to play late at night or when you want to bloody something up real good. The battle mode is not quite as bloody, but there are some really cool weapons, such as the Cerebral Bore, which drains an enemy's brain fluid right before your eyes. The lack of music in battle mode (so as not to make the game even slower) make an tense feeling, but the 4-player mode is
really
slow. Try playing with only 4 players, if possible.
Replay Value
You'll beat the game eventually. You'll most likely congratulate yourself on beating a pretty difficult game... but that's it. You probably won't want to do it again due to the few save points and long levels. Also, you probably won't want to go get a new Controller Pak to save your progress... but on the other hand, there will always be the battle mode.
Storyline
Interesting, to say the least. It's all about, well, killing dinosaurs. The deeper story is you have to defend these Energy Totems from being destroyed so the Primagen won't get out, and destroy the universe. Done and done again, it's nothing really creative, but it still works.
Creativity
Well, the dinosoids are done really well, but there's nothing really creative, except for the weapons. The Cerebral Bore and other weapons are very innovative and are worth seeing. The battle mode doesn't really bring any new elements, and neither does the main game. The game does feature many different moves you can apply, such as crouching, jumping, swimming, diving, and the guns are easily accesible, but we suggest the Goldeneye setting for the people more familiar with that.
Control
The control system is good for the game, but the sometimes slow frame-rate still screws you up a lot in the game. We suggest the GoldenEye setting. We feel it's easier to use than the Turok controls, but everyone has their own preferences.
Length
The length of the overall game is good, and it would be near impossible to beat the game in one day without the strategy guide. However, each save point is far away from all the others, and it can be tedious trying to find one sometimes.
Difficulty
This is adjustable, but it is still on a good learning curve. The first level gets oyu acquainted with the buttons, and each next level poses new challenges, but none that seem too impossible.
