F-Zero X

The old game from SNES comes back to make a stellar showing...

F-Zero X is a racing game, yet Nintendo 64 has plenty of them. Nintendo 64 has a very weak RPG base (unless you count Zelda as an RPG). So why did Nintendo spend its time on F-Zero X?

Because they knew it would be good enough.

Most other racing games for the Nintendo 64 fit within the following categories:

>Focus on graphics
>Focus on realism
>Focus on battle mode

Now, there's nothing wrong with that. In fact, those type of games appeal to many people, and are overall great games. But F-Zero X falls into a different category. F-Zero X focuses on RACING. In many other games you play for the Nintendo 64, the racing is good, but F-Zero X brings this to a new level. This game is ALL RACING. Sure, the graphics aren't stellar, but no game competes with the speed, the true racing feel of F-Zero X. This game concentrates on the blinding speed of 60 fps (frames per second). You may think to yourself, "Yeah, but who wants to play a game that's fast but has bad graphics? I can do that on the Supen Nintendo!" Well, just play F-Zero X and you'll see. Or to be more precise, you won't. You don't have time to be looking around at the pretty graphics while you are racing. If a friend says something like, "Look at this.", for most racing games you wait for a part where you know what is coming, and you can look for a few seconds. That is now gone. You don't have those 3 seconds to spare. Look away and when you look back, BOOM! You're sliding across the walls. Also, even with multi-player, the frames don't slow down. You speed through tunnels, around cylinders, off jumps, though loops, and even fly momentarily all at speeds hardly imaginable. Yet, most important of all, the game is fun. Also, the control is magnificent, and the great music from the original returns (although it is made even better with a remix). Oh, and don't worry about the number of tracks. There's tons, including a hidden random track generator. The computer AI (artificial intelligence) isn't bad, either. They don't cheat, and beginners and masters alike will have an enjoyable time. You'll want to play again and again.

Want another reason to convince you that the graphics didn't need to be so great? Well, think on this. You've got up to 30 cars on the screen, at the same time, and all of them are doing different things, going different speeds, and the like. Still not convinced? Just play the game!
