godspeed you black emperor! This band is from Montreal and they play great epic instrumentals.
I've seen them 6 times, in theatres, bars, and once in a barn of all places. There shows never fail to amazing. The greatest live act I have seen.

SWANS started in the early 80's and disbanded in 1997. I was fortunate enough to see them live in Boston
on their final tour, what an experience! Their music is powerful and passionate.
