| What
is ERP ? |
|
| Enterprise
Resource Planning or ERP is an industry term for integrated, muti-module
application software packages that are designed to serve and support
multiple business fuctions. An ERP system can include software for
manufacturing, order entry, accounts receivable and payable, general
ledger, purchasing, warehousing, transportation and human resources.
|
|
| Why
is ERP necessary? |
|
| By
becoming the integrated information solution across the entire organization,
ERP systems allow companies to better understand their business. With
ERP software, companies can standardize business processes and more
easily enact best practices. By creating more efficient processes,
companies can concentrate their efforts on serving their customers
and maximizing profit. |
|
| What
is CRM ? |
|
| CRM
stands for Customer Relationship Management. It is a strategy used
to learn more about customers' needs and behaviors in order to develop
stronger relationships with them. |
|
| Are
there any indications of the need for a CRM project? |
|
| Not
really. But one way to assess the need for a CRM project is to count
the channels a customer can use to access the company. The more channels
you have, the greater need there is for the type of single centralized
customer view a CRM system can provide. |
|
| What
exactly is supply chain management and why is it so important ? |
|
| SCM
is managing the flow of goods, services and information, all the way
(two-way) from suppliers of suppliers, to suppliers, to manufacturers,
to wholesalers, to distributors, to stores, to consumers and to end-users.
The complexity and the cost of supply chains have significantly and
continuously increased in the past two decades. At the same time,
companies have realized that their customers' satisfaction (or dissatisfaction)
was linked to the performance of their supply chain. On the other
hand, different companies' (and industry-wide) initiatives have shown
the tremendous benefits of just-in-time, zero-stock, total quality,
category management, ECR,... just to name a few steps into the business
integration potential. SCM is both a source of competitive advantages,
and a lever for profit margin. If you are not good at SCM, somebody
else will be. |
|
| What
is your plan to integrate the supply chain down through the manufaturing
process ? |
|
The
opportunities to integrate the processes of the supply chain are practically
unlimited. At this time, we focus on different "dimensions"
of the integration:
· The standards along
the supply chain (product coding, data structures,...) for procedures
and information systems.
· The geographic regionalizations
and globalization, providing common processes (sourcing, manufacturing
and distribution) for several countries, within and across regional
trade markets.
· Out-sourcing and
in-sourcing must be constantly re-assessed with a strategic perspective.
The integration must allow seamless co-manufacturing, co-packing,...
all sorts of collaborative working environments with the business
partners.
A new paradigm is emerging with
the integration of business partners and the focus on the core processes:
an IT infrastructure must be deployed to support these virtual companies.

|
| What
is Kerberos? |
|
| Kerberos
is a network authentication protocol. It is designed to provide strong
authentication for client/server applications by using secret-key
cryptography. A free implementation of this protocol is available
from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Kerberos is available
in many commercial products as well. |
|
| Where
does the name "Kerberos" come from? |
|
| The
name Kerberos comes from Greek mythology; it is the three-headed dog
that guarded the entrance to Hades. |
|
| What
are the primary issues regarding supply chain management ? |
|
| The
primary issue is the regional integration and globalization of the
key processes. Information technology and new economic situations
allow us to rationalize the use of our assets (production facilities),
the sourcing of raw materials and packaging items, the administrative
processes. |
|
| What
are the expected (if any) relationships between the ERP software tools
and SCM software tools? It appears there is overlapping functionality
offered in each. Are ERP and SCM vendors working on interfaces or
strategic partnerships ? |
|
| The
big software players need to preserve their investments and keep their
customers, in spite of the rapid obsolescence of their products. The
battlefield is around the architectures and the business models: the
right choices are critically important, although they are never absolutely
"right" or "wrong" (only some are proved to be
useful). There is an emerging paradigm, I think, where these tools
will be more "process-centered" than "database-centered",
with an extended perspective (i.e. beyond the boundaries of a given
company). The capability to interface different systems through XML
(or XML-like) standards, in theory, should create an environment where
companies could take advantage of the best of both worlds. |
|
| What
are the top success stories for Web-based EDI and other integrated
Supply Chain solutions? |
|
They
are two kinds of success stories:
· On the back-end of the SC:
eProcurement of non-traditional items.
· On the front-end of SC: collaborative
sales and promotions management with Extranets (where manufacturers
and distributors share the data on the daily base). |
|
| What
benefits have been realized with the use of Project Management Technologies
on the implementation of ERP systems ? |
|
| The
benefits of using project management techniques well on ERP systems
can be dramatic, but require real discipline and skill in project
management. The discipline of project management (done well) requires
clear definitions of tasks, individuals assigned to tasks, and real
deliverables that mark the end of a task. Emphasis should be placed
on work breakdown structures, using earned value techniques (rather
than percent complete), and time sheet data entry with regular reevaluation
of "estimates to complete". Project teams should include
IT, line of business and outside contractors, with an empowered leader
for each team. Done correctly, using project management goes a long
way to ensuring that ERP projects and on time, within budget and maintain
scope |
|
| What
is medical transcription and who is medical transcriptionist? |
|
| Medical
transcription is an IT enabled service. It is among the most fascinating
of allied health professions where a skilled person is engaged in
the process of listening, interpreting, and typing in a specified
format the dictation of the physician or any other medical professional
regarding the patient's assessment, followup treatment, clinical course,
diagnoses, and other pertinent healthcare information in terms of
document patient care and facilitate delivery of healthcare services.
Transcriptionists have been misclassified
as typist, medical word processors, medical secretaries, and dictating
machine operators, but in fact medical transcriptionist is a healthcare
specialist or we can also say medical communicator, as he ought
to have adequate knowledge of medical terminology, i.e., related
to anatomy and physiology, clinical medicine, surgery, diagnostic
tests, radiology, pathology, pharmacology, and abbreviations in
all specialties of medicine. Through the efforts of AAMT (American
Association of Medical Transcriptions), visibility and recognition
of the profession have increased and accepted.
|
|
| What
is the role of medical transcriptionist in healthcare system? |
|
| It
is important to know that all healthcare providers rely to some extent
on the skills of medical transcriptionist to provide written documentation
of patient care. The reports produced by the qualified medical language
specialist are the storehouse of information concerning medical practice.
These reports should be free from any sort of medical or grammar errors
to provide 100% accuracy to the report as there reports function as
legal documentation and fulfill the requirements for insurance reimbursement.
They also serve as reference material for scientific research and
development in medical technologies. It also serves as a basis for
protection of patient's rights and evidence for litigation, and also
serves as a safe hand for physician. Thus medical transcriptionists
make a significant contribution to the delivery of healthcare. Thus
we can say that medical transcription provides unlimited intellectual
challenge and opportunity to make a unique contribution to quality
patient care and service. |
|
| What
makes medical transcription an attractive career choice? |
|
| Medical
transcription provides unlimited intellectual challenge and the opportunity
to make a unique contribution to quality patient care and service.
Healthcare is a rapidly growing field, and the demand for quality
documentation is increasing. The profession provides a high level
of job services. Because their services are in demand, transcriptionists
are often able to arrange convenient and flexible work schedules.
Age restrictions are seldom found, with great value being placed on
the experience and knowledge of the mature transcriptionist. Medical
transcription can be a lifelong, satisfying career, providing the
constant challenge of an expanding and advancing technology. The changes
occurring in the healthcare industry promise to provide even more
challenges to the forward-looking medical language specialist. |
|
| How
long will this profession survive? |
|
| There
should not be any doubt regarding the survival of this profession.
As long as the medical field is at service, medical transcription
will move side-by-side. The demand of medical transcriptionists is
increasing daily. |
|
| Will
this profession survive in India (North India)? |
|
| As
it is discussed earlier that the demand of this profession is increasing,
and with the incoming of private insurance companies or Health Maintenance
Organizations (HMOs), the medical insurance claims will be made through
these organizations. For all these work, a legal document will be
required for which a medical language specialist is on demand. And
moreover, the government hospitals and some charitable run hospitals
will also require MTs to maintain the records. So, there is no question
of non-survival of this profession in India. |
|
| What
is the job security as a medical transcriptionist? |
|
| As
fas as job is concerned there are many companies coming into this
field who are giving job as MT-I, MT-II, SMT (senior medical transcriptionist),
QA-I, QA-II, QA-III, Supervisor, Trainers, Managers, etc. depending
upon the quality you are giving and the type of skills you have. Some
companies are also giving immigration assistance to the deserving
candidates and to the person who wishes to go to United States or
Canada, and above all, a trained medical transcriptionist can also
adopt this profession as a home based business. |
|
| Where
the qualified MT will get the job? |
|
| Medical
transcriptionists utilize their talents in a variety of healthcare
settings, including doctors' offices, public and private hospitals,
medical transcription services, insurance companies, and government
medical facilities. Medical language specialists work with physician
and surgeons in multiple specialties. They work with pharmacists,
therapists, technicians, nurses, dietitians, social workers, psychologists,
and other medical personnel. All of these healthcare providers rely
on information that is received, documented, and disseminated by the
medical language specialist.
Some transcriptionists choose to work
out of their homes as employees of transcription services or hospitals.
Still others provide services as independent contractors. Qualified
medical transcriptionists who wish to expand their professional
responsibilities may choose to become department heads, supervisors,
managers, or owners of medical transcription services. Experienced
medical language specialists may become teachers, working in schools
and colleges and educating future medical transcriptionists

|
| What
is the future of a MT in case of voice recognition system coming in
the field? |
|
| Supposing
that the voice recognition system is coming into this profession,
question may arise in your mind, will MTs face out of this profession?
But the thing is not like that, the role of MT is still there because
that particular software will not do the proofreading work for the
company, and that work will be done by the QAs who have successfully
done the basic course of MT and undergone training for QA. So, there
is no question of concern that there is any risk to the future of
a MT. Further, in fact, these voice recognition systems will help
the person while making the templates and thus will reduce the laborious
job of typing from scratch. Now the MT may put in some efforts to
correct the already done job and proofread of his own job thus increasing
his own accuracy. So, he can earn more because of the increased accuracy.
Moreover, the technology has always helped human beings to deliver
the highly reliable jobs with minimum efforts. As in the case of microbial
robots entering into the heart for correcting highly complicated problems,
the doctors have found alternate solutions to open-heart surgery,
thus decreasing the health hazards. Still the doctors are needed to
perform this job. |
