the Krazy Korean's T-day Turkey
ok, i warned you that this was going to happen...
my master plot of taking control of the world...
MWAHAHAHAHAHA...
i've fine tuned to give our t-day an ethnic twist...
maybe you don't celebrate with a bird,
maybe you're a vegetarian (i have a recipe to get you yet),
maybe you don't celebrate t-day...
you don't have to do this on t-day...
you don't have to do this on christmas...
it doesn't have to be a special occasion, just a bird kind of day...
enjoy

ONE VERY BIG BIRD
anything less than a big bird you will need to reduce the quanitities of the ingredients by what you consider a big bird...this was used on a 23.96 pounder...we didn't get as big as usual because it was only the test bird and we had to be sure we could consume it before T-day...since it was only Chris (#2 son) and me, well, from Monday through Wednesday, figured that's what we could devour without being pigs about it.

the other stuff:
2 bunches green onions (chop up the green part, the white stuff use in another recipe, but not this one)
1 handful cilantro (sometimes refered to as chinese parsley, but where i see most is in salsa's and thai dishes)
1/8 cup black pepper (more or less for the bite)
1/8 cup sugar
1/4 cup minced garlic (not powder, or salt...can be the stuff in a jar if you don't want to do fresh garlic)
2 tbsp minced ginger (comes in a jar or fresh...powder is ok, but don't get the same effect on the pallate if you do)
1/2 cup chopped broccoli crowns
1/4 cup roasted sesame seeds
1/4 cup sesame oil
1/2 handful soft spread margarine
1/2 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred, thus not as salty, though you could use mix of the regular strength with some water, adjust mix according to how much you like to lick salt)
and enough rice (the white kind and not the minute or less kind in a box...wild rice wouldn't get the same ethnicity flavor)

first you want to get the rice cooking
then put the giblets in 2-3 cups water with 1/4 cup soy sauce (that's half the total listed) and 1/8 cup sesame oil (again that's only half of the total listed)
chop the giblets when they are done

take them chopped giblets and mix in a bowl with the rice and everything else
take that mix and stuff the bird with it
take the bird and put it in a pan designed for the cooking a bird of its size
oven is on 325 right? well, whatever the normal setting is for the size of the bird...cook for the amount of time for the size of the bird you're cooking...cover and baste, baste, baste...i like to do it about every 15 minutes...

suggested complimenting dishes...steamed fresh vegetables (like broccoli or snow peas)...try out my Krazy Korean Potatoes (another recipe for another spamming)...
