Reviews for Bound by Fire:

"Landing on Planet Rock in 1994 from a galaxy far, far away, Zimmers Hole hilariously combine insane death metal with the theatrics of KISS to gloriously un-PC effect."

Rod Yates, Kerrang, April 1999

"...It's hard to take these guys seriously when you hear the lyrics and the strange sound effects (flushing toilets, phones ringing, children crying, wailing sirens, chickens clucking), but apart from all this, the music is just full of metal.  EXCELLENT metal.  Roaring guitars and bass and fast drums. ZH is fucking loud!!..."

Nathalie, Holland

"Remember when you were young, like, pre-puberty and post...whatever, and were really, really angry with your parents or parole officer? Well, "Bound by Fire" is what it might have sounded like if you had a guitar at that time..."

Fredrik - misses his coffee machine, Sweden

"Then this silly voice song (with lots of cheap techno mouth-generated percussion) comes on. I don't know who is doing that barbarian belch/growl, but it rules! Right after that is the heaviest song I've heard in a long time. The keyboard part kills me. It sounds like a little Mickey Mouth flute sound out of a cheap Casio keyboard.

This album makes me ponder the very physiological nature of comedy and laughter. When I listen to their music, why must I react with a sore stomach, headache, and a monosyllabic "Ha"???"

Ed Furniture, Ink 19

"Technically, the band never compromises it's drive and the result is a roller coaster of sweetly written anthems to various musical styles that reminds us that we all take our own various musical tastes just a tad too seriously sometimes. A simile might be Monty Python's "Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life" - but, be careful, the Zimmer's will probably ham that up aas well. No one is safe!

Mike, Fire Fight, Issue #4 June 1999

"...the descriptions and songs are as varied as the items you might find in a dump you take after gorging yourself at a Chinese buffet. And they are twice as tasty going down.

Although you can hear the undeniable influence of other bands in Zimmers Hole, never does the impression that they are ripping their mentors off come to mind. Rather, they are paying homage, poking a bit of fun, and adding their own twist and a tongue-in-cheek sincerity that makes the entire album a pleasure from start to finish."

Al Kikuras, Unchain the Underground, Vol 2, Num 1, March 1998

"Not sure what's in the water up in Northwest Canada these days, but whatever it is these guys drank a lot of it. Quite simply, this is the best joke Metal band since "More Bad News".

Andrew Carter, Terrorizer

"Zimmer's Hole is a nutty, fruity mix somewhere between Gwar, Anthrax (and Testament and Exodus etc.), The Tubes and all the top metal records between '73 (Montrose and Kiss are quoted) and '84...

...it's just a hilarious speed-metal channel-clicker of conceptual madness from start to finish - a little profane, a little funny, but hilarious if you can spot the references."

Martin Popoff, Chart Magazine, November '98
