32 EGLINTON WEST Route History

October 14th, 1936

With the co-operation of Forest Hill Village and York Township, a new bus route on Eglinton Avenue from Yonge Street to Times Road, with buses wying at Starrett Avenue and at Times. City fares valid to Latimer westbound and suburban fare to Elmthorpe westbound. Rush hour short-turn service from Yonge to Heddington.

October 28th, 1936

Buses use new Starrett Loop (on the southwest corner of Yonge & Eglinton) instead of wyeing at Starrett.

February 10th, 1938

Western terminus changed to Oakwood & Lanark. Buses turn south on Oakwood, wyeing at Lanark and return north to Eglinton to route.

April 1st, 1938

Operation transferred to Eglinton Division from Davenport Garage.

December 14th, 1939

Rush hour short-turn extended from Heddington to Castlewood (one block west).

March 10th, 1947

Route extended westward from Oakwood via Eglinton and Times Road to Hopedale.

April 1st, 1949

West end shortened due to inauguration of new BRIAR HILL bus route, now looping clockwise via south on Almede, west on Lanark and north on Oakwood.
