MORE PENCIL CASES AND LIBRARY BAGS (JULY 2008)

This is a selection of Library Bags and Pencil Cases I have made recently.

I made 6 "Rabbit" bags with matching cases, one has the design as a pocket - one on each side. There are 4 "Thomas and Friends" bags, also with matching cases, and there are 2 "Skater" bags with one case only.

Each bag is approx 40cmx40cm and is made from curtain remnants purchased from my local Op Shop, so each bag and case cost about $1.00 to make, and that includes the purchase of a zip!!

PENCIL CASES AND LIBRARY BAGS (JAN 2008)

Mum and I have been busy making some small items for Santa's workshop, where items are donated, fixed up and redistributed to kids at Christmas.

CUSHION COVERS (2006)

50cm x 50cm cushions that my brother had given me had yellow covers, but I recovered them for my niece who is ladybird crazy, and my nephew who has Buzz Lightyear all around his room. The pink one has a frilled edge, and the space one has a self edge and was made from a curtain remnant!!

PEG APRON (2005)

My grandmother needed a new peg apron, and this is the result!

BAG (2003)

This is a bag made for me, using a spare paper pieced block as the pocket. I made the straps a lot longer than previously, but the size and technique was the same.

BABY CAPS AND MITTENS

These are for a donation to the local hospital for the premature babies. They are made from stretch knit with soft ribbing around the head and wrists. They will help the little babies to stay warm once they are discharged - and stop people taking the hospital ones!!

CHRISTMAS GIFTS (2003)

These are some shopping bags made for Christmas 2003. Each has a paper pieced pocket, and is made with half a metre of indian cotton Duck, folded lengthwise. The handles are a heavy strapping.

CHRISTMAS GIFTS (2002)

An assortment of pot holders made for Christmas presents in 2002.

They were filled with two layers of towelling, plus one layer of wadding, and quilted through all layers.

GUN HOLSTERS - OKLAHOMA

My Aunt is involved in a amateur theatre group, and were putting on a production of "Oklahoma" and needed some gun holsters. I made about 10 in all. They are made out of vinyl, stencilled with a leather type design and fit a plastic gun. The belts are also vinyl, with the empty shells put into elastic that has been stitched on. There is a leg strap made from a shoelace.

CROCHET - CHRISTMAS GIFTS (2001)

I started to crochet these coat hangers when I saw them first knitted. I don't knit, so I tried to develop a way of crocheting to achieve a similar effect. I hade three for everyone in my family for Christmas a couple of years ago - that was around 60, including children's ones!!

WALL HANGING (2001)

This was a tribute to those who died on Sept 11. It is made with a stained glass pattern off the internet, enlarged and put onto iron-on Vilene. The binding over the horizontal edges say things like "father son friend lover mother daughter". The vertical stripes have stars, and the big star has "September 11 2001 - In our Hearts" on it. It won third prize at the Canning Show in 2001.

QUILT COVER

I fell in love with a curtain remnant of this smiling sun, and had a sheet set in blue to match. I used the flat sheet to back the remnant for the quilt cover, and patched the rest together for 2 pillowslips.

BABY BOOTIES

When a friend of mine had her Baby Shower, I thought I'd make her these booties from a Better Homes and Gardens magazine. The have ribbing at the ankle, appliquéd "spots" and button eyes.
