Chapter 10

6 months later, everything was almost back to normal. It was almost as if the whole incident never happened. One night, Kay Kay opened her eyes, out of habit, expecting to see darkness, but she saw shadows of her room. She quickly looked down to the person sleeping next to her. During the time they had gotten back together, they had used to getting used each other and adjusting to her disability. They never really had the time to make love before or after the incident. Although, they had come very close these past few days.

He turned his face toward her, and he saw his features, but not too clearly. “This must be a dream,” she sleepily thought, “but what a nice one.” She smiled at that thought.

In the morning, she woke up and opened her eyes again. Only to see AJ looking at her with his beautiful eyes. “Alex?”

“Good morning, sweetheart,” he said as he gave her a chaste kiss on her nose.

“I can see you.” A smile broke out on his face. “How I miss seeing that smile,” she thought.

“Are you serious?!”

“Yes! I can see you, but you’re in black and white.”

“I don’t care if I’m purple and yellow. I’m so happy.”

“But it could be temporary,” she said seriously.

“I don’t think so. I read somewhere that you could be able to totally see again.”

“Oh Alex, I thought I would never see you again.”

“But you can see me, now.”

Just like AJ said, she regained her full vision within 3 months. AJ and Kay
Kay never told the guys that she had started to see things 9 months ago, so they all decided to surprise them.

They invited them to her apartment and when the doorbell rang, Kay Kay opened the door and said their names, as they passed by. The guys were stunned. “How many fingers am I holding up?” Nick asked.

“8.”

“Wrong. Damn, I knew it was too good to be true.”

“No, I’m right. 8 fingers and 2 opposable thumbs.”

“Okay, one more test.” Nick picked up an apple and threw it at her. She got it with one hand, and took a bite out of it.

“Oh my god! You really can see,” Brian said as he spun her around.

“Well there’s another surprise. Kay Kay, I’ve always love you even through the times I thought I had lost you. We’ve been through the worst of the worst and the best of the best together,” AJ said as he got down to one knee. “Will you marry me?”

“Oh darlin’. I thought you would never ask.”

“Man, get off me, Nick. Uh uh, don’t even think about kissing me. Ahhh!” AJ yelled as he took off running away from Nick, who was saying, “Come on honey, when are you going to acknowledge our little love affair these past few years.”

Everyone else sat down on the couch and just shook their heads at their antics. Once in a while, they would run in front of the couch with Nick still trying to give AJ a big wet one.

Eventually, Nick got tired and just plopped down on the couch right next to Kay Kay. AJ pulled her up and fell down to his knees, perspiring profusely and out of breath, “Will…you…Kay Kay,” he emphasized while still trying to catch his breath, “marry me?”
