Chapter Seven

Annette was beginning to feel more relaxed. Her days were usually spent drawing a bowl of fruit and yelling at herself for any little mistake. She was always too busy to make friends, that is, until now. The minute she started talking to Nick, she knew he would be a lot of fun. If she knew how much fun, she would have made friends with him sooner. Almost everyday they would go to a movie or shop for stuff. His beach house became so familiar it was like another home. She told him everything. Everything, that is, except her dream. She debated telling him until she couldn’t stand holding it any longer. They were at his house, talking and laughing when she brought it up.

“Um—Nick?” Annette looked up timidly.

“Yeah?”

“There’s something I never told you that I feel I should.”

“What is it?” Nick looked at her curiously.

“Well, see, it’s kind of hard to bring up.”

“Just say it. I’m sure you’ll feel better if you just blurt it out.”

“It’s about this dream I always have.”

“A dream? Is it sexy?” Nick smirked.

“Oh yeah.” I nodded.

She began to retell the dream from start to finish. When she finished talking, he looked at her in mock surprise.

“Oh my. I never thought you think like that.” He wiggled his eyebrows.

“Oh shut up, Nick.” She turned a deep red.

“Such naughty thoughts.” He persisted.

“I said SHUT UP!”

“Tsk, tsk, tsk. I thought you were a good girl.” He laughed.

“Ok, that’s it, I’m leaving.” Annette got up.

“No, don’t! Please?”

He grabbed her arm gently and playfully. She didn’t expect that to happen because she lost her balance and fell backward. Right into his arms. Their faces were just inches apart. Then Annette broke away.

“No, really, I have to finish this landscape I’m drawing for class.” She said gently.

“Oh well, don’t let me stop you.” He let go of her.

“Why don’t we go see ‘House on Haunted Hill’ tomorrow?”

“Sure.” Nick nodded.

“Bye! See you tomorrow at 4pm.”

“Bye.”

Annette walked away feeling somewhat confused while Nick stood there feeling the same way.
