Joey pulled out the driveway and went the opposite direction from his previously determined destination, heading for the park down the street instead of the Drugmart. Then when he got there about three or four minutes later he got out and started talking.
"Good going Joey! Just when you finally get the chance to tell her you like her you tell her to get out of your car. I thought you had skillz boy. But you don't. You're sitting here in a park by yourself talking to yourself while she's probably back there cuddling wit Lance. Man, why'd you let her go? A real man wouldn't have made her go. Superman or Clark Kent wouldn't have made Lois Lane get out. Ever. She'll probably hate me now." he cried out on the verge of breakdown and with that he slumped down in his swing head in hands, secure in the fact that nobody he knew was around, he allowed himself to breakdown. Minutes later he heard someone walk up behind him and payed it no attention until he felt a hand on hie shoulder. He jumped startled. Joey looked up to see an all too familiar face. He quickly wiped his face dry and looked away so she wouldn't see his face red with anger and frustration.
"Hey, Grace! What are you doing here?" he asked with every ounce of non-chalance he could possibly muster
"I was just going to ask you that very same question. I saw you turn this way way so I came to look for you. So nothing's wrong, huh?" She asked worried. She had never seen her best friend (in the years and years she'd known him) she'd never ever seen him cry until today.
"Nothing is wrong, Grace. I just...I'm just frustrated and I just needed a few minutes by myself to clear my head. I just have too much on my mind lately," he stopped himself short before he finished his comment with 'mostly you.'
"Like what?" Grace asked taking a seat on the swing next to Joey's.
"Just different things nothing really in particular," Joey lied then changed the subject. "So you never did tell me why you're here." he commented glancing over.
She stared guiltily down and kicked about some of the mulch from the area beneath her swing then said, "Well...you see you looked pretty upset when you asked me to let you be, well I went in and watched you pull out. I saw you turn down this way and decided to follow you and that's what I'm doing here. What about you what are you doing here?"
"I already told you." he began,"But besides thinking I'm just having a nervous breakdown. No biggie." He answered with a shrug, a fake smile on his face.
"Well why did you come here, I mean of all the places in this city." she questioned her older friend quites thouroughly confused.
The man besides her hesitated then, deciding he could not be embarassed further after she had seen him cry. He raked his fingers through his bright red/hot pink hair and began, "Well, you know the first time I came up here with you and I was kind of upset because I missed my mom and dad and brother and sister and well basically home?"
"Yeah what about it?" Grace answered
"Well y'all brought me up here to ease my mind. Relax me, take my mind off of all that. That's why I'm here." Joey explained.
