[Setting: in the car alone Joey talking to himself]

Joey stuck the key in the keyhole of his rental car tuned it and started it up, "It's not your fault, you didn't know he was there. How could you? He must hav moved down after you fell asleep, you can't help that." he was about to leave when he was brought back into reality by a gentle rapping on the passenger side window. He looked over and saw Grace knocking on it. He smiled at her half-heartedly to acknowledge her presence. She grinned, waved, then pointed down. He followed her finger to see that the door was locked. He leaned over the seat and opened the door for her. She got in, closed the door, fastened her seat belt and then turned to him.

"So..." she started nervously, "where are we going?"

He turned to face her then he spoke with almost no emotion, "DrugMart"

"Oh," she replied quietly, "for what?"

"Tylenol" he said coldly with sadness or anger, maybe both, in his usually cheerful, happy, brown eyes (Grace couldn't decide which emotion it actually was clouding her best friend's face.)

"Oh," She said again then after about a minute she spoke again,"Listen, Joey, I'm sorry I threw Allison's cover-up at your head. I shouldn't have done that." She said apologetically.

He glanced over, forced a small smile and said, "Don't worry about it. Really it's okay" which was an honest response.

"Really?" she questioned a little surprised. He laughed alttle at her tone.

"Yeah!" he replied, fake cheerfulness sounding in his glum voice.

"So then...what's wrong?" she asked slightly confused. He shook his head asif to say nothing was wrong. "Yeah right! I don't buy that. We've been too close for too long for me to believe you when you lie like that, boy"

"Look!" He began sharply, startling Grace. He lowered his voice and began again, "Look. I'm fine nothing is wrong. I'm just a little confused about a couple things. But you know I have to go to DrugMart. I also need to clear my head so, if you wouldn't mind...could I please go alone?" he asked sadly.

"Oh! Yeah. Sure." she replied dejectedly, hesitated then slowly got out of Joey's rental car and walked back up the driveway to the housesadly and left Joey alone to resume talking to himself.
