Chapter 8

"I love touring so remind me again why I wanna go home so badly?" Nick asked the rest of the guys as they set in the hotel lobby drinking coffee.

"Cause your tired and the fans are getting crazy." Replied a very tired AJ.

"Some fans came to my door last night while you guys were at the club, I hate that don't they know we want privacy?" Nick said angrily

"Nick calm down." Started Brian "They just wanna meet us and we should try and be as nice as possible to them, sign an autograph and take a picture."

"Well I'd like to be left alone for atleast one night, just to play nintendo and relax."

"What did you do about them?" Asked Howie

"I slid a piece of paper under the door saying that they had the wrong door."

"Nick you didn't?" Kevin asked shocked.

"What? I wanted to be left alone. They'll live." Nick defended himself.

"That was really awful of you to do, Nick." Brian said shaking his head.

"I don't care, I was tired and homesick. I wish they could trade places with us for one day and then they could know what we go through just to live out our dream."

"It's the price of fame Nick, for all of us." Howie said walking away. "I'm going to finish packing."

All followed except Nick, "Yeah the price of fame." He mumbled. "Bulshit."

************************* "Come on Jayme, we're gonna be late." Lindsay yelled standing at the door with her suitcases at her feet.

"I'm coming I'm coming." Jayme yelled back while walking towards the door. "Come on lets go."

The two girl met with the other dancers in the lobby and made small talk while making their way to the buses.

"Okay guys ready?" Asked the bus driver.

"As ready as we'll ever be." Replied Lindsay.

Once they were settled on the bus Jayme's cell phone rang. "Oh great Mom trying to get me to eat my damn vegetables again." She said to herself. "Hello?"

"Hi Jayme its me Erica."

"Thank God I thought you were Mom."

"Well, I have news but I don't know if its good or bad."

"Okay shoot."

"You know the week you have off coming up?"

"Yeah."

"Well, you are going to spend it in New York recording more songs for the album, the response has been great the past week on tour and your single is racing up the charts. We need the release of the album to be soon, in fact, we already have a date set."

"You alread set the date and I haven't finished recording the damn album yet?" Asked Jayme both angry and confused.

"Yes, in two weeks, the 26th."

"The 26th? Are you serious?" How was she supposed to finish the rest of the album so soon?

"Jayme I know how upset you must be but we have work hard and get this done, we want to record 15 songs, you only have 11 we need to get four done within these next two weeks."

"Fine whatever." Jayme replied. She knew they had to have it finished, the whole world expected the new album out in two weeks and like it or not, it would come out then, with 15 songs.

"I really am sorry."

"I know me too."

"Okay talk to you later?"

"Sure. Bye."

"Bye."

Jayme rested her head on the head of her bunk, she was so tired, so wore out. Yet she still had to tour, and finish recording an album. She found herself wishing she was at home doing her homework for school and laying in the comfort of her boyfriends arms.

She hadn't talked to Jake in months, she stoped keeping count a week ago. She pulled out her cell phone and began dialing a number that was not so familiar anymore.

"Hello?" Came a female voice.

"Ummmm.......is Jake there?"

"Hold on."

"Hello?"

"Jake!"

"Yeah."

"Who was that?"

"Who's this?"

"Jake it's me, Jayme."

"Oh." Jake voice dropped.

"You don't even recognize my voice do you?"

"I didn't for a minute but I do now. So whats up?"

"I know its been awhile but I've been busy, I'm so sorry."

"Thats okay."

"I miss you."

"I miss you too." Jack sounded as if he was forcing the words out and as if he were shocked at her calling.

"Who answered the phone?" Jayme asked confused and trying to change the subject.

"My sister."

"Her voice sounded really familiar."

"She's probably answered when you've called before or something."

"Oh. So how's school."

"Good everyone's talking about you."

"Gosh I'm so embarrassed."

"Don't be, well, listen I have to go. Call me later."

"Okay sure bye."

"Bye."

Jayme layed her phone next to her and lay down to sleep. She knew something was up with Jake but she was too tired to think about it.

************************** "Wake up Nick we're here." Brian said shaking his best friend out of sleep.

"I'm up dammit." Nick grouled.

"Well looks like you didn't get enough sleep." Brian joked. "Don't worry about it us four guys can do the show without you tonight, we don't need you."

"Fine then leave me alone."

"I'm kidding Nick, now come on."

Nick forced himself out of bed, almost falling over because he was so week, he grabbed a few essentials, to take a shower and dress for rehearsal, when they arrived at the hotel.

The bus came to a stop and screams were heard all around them. "Okay guys." Their bus drive started, "Fans are surrounding the bus so we have to hurry and get inside otherwise we're all toast."

The boys followed directions and once the bus door opened they ran inside darting fans who we're screaming for them to stop. When they were inside ans were heading towards their rooms Howie over heard Nick say something to himself, "Shit. Those damn fans why can't they just get a life and leave mine alone."

"Nick everything okay?" Howie asked from behind Nick.

Nick turned around to face him, "No. Someone took my toothbrush and my tee shirt, I should have never left it hanging out of my bag."

"Well I'm sure the hotel has a gift shop or something where you can buy a toothbrush and a tee shirt but you can borrow one of my shirts if you want."

"Thanks Howie."

"No problem, what are friends."

Just as Nick and Howie made their way to the gift shop Jayme and her dancers ran into them. "Hey Jayme." Howie said in his usual pleasent voice.

"Hey guys." She replied. "Where you headed too?"

"I have to get a new toothbrush and tee shirt, a fan stole mine."

"Oh my God really thats awful, why would they do something like that."

"Beats me."

"Oh well I am sorry."

"It's okay, thanks."

"No problem. Well, I'm heading to my room, see ya guys later tonight."

"Okay bye." Howie said followed by Nick, "Bye."

"She seems to be really nice." Commented Howie once she was out of sight and they began walking again towards the gift shop once again.

"Yeah, she's cool."

"Sexy too." Howie said with a flirtatious smile that Nick knew well.

"Of course you think that."

"What does that mean?"

"You love girls, I've never met anyone who loves women more than you."

"Hey I'm not that bad."

"Whatever."

"You love girls too."

"Yeah but I'm not all over them and checking them out everytime they are in the same room I am."

"You can't help yourself from noticing."

"There's a fine line between noticing and one night stands."

"Okay maybe I do go a little too far but I do not have one night stands."

"Sure you don't, what about Amy, or that girl that came to your room wanting to meet you? And that's only a couple."

"Okay so maybe a few times but atleast when I have serious relationships they don't turn into something like what you and Amanda had."

Nick's face feel as he stopped dead in his tracks, Howie stopped beside him realizing what he had said and was quick to apologize.

"Man I am so sorry I didn't mean anything, I wasn't thinking you know that wasn't your fault you did the best you could she was to blame."

"Don't worry about it Howie, listen go back to your room I can find my own way to the gift shop."

"No I wanna go with you."

"Did you hear me Howie I said go back to your room okay?" Nick yelled causing the few people around them to stop and stare.

"Fine I'm gone." Howie and Nick walked in separate ways.

Nick found his way to the gift shop and after buying what he needed he left for his room, he hated hotel rooms. As he entered the room he rolled his eyes, they were all like the rest, they weren't home, it wasn't his bed and worse yet noone was waiting for him in the bed when he came back from a show. He hated being alone, he hated not having someone who loved him more than anything in the world, who really loved HIM, not his money or fame. He missed that, no matter what happened with him and Amanda she was always there. He loved her and he knew she loved him. But now he was all alone, with noone.

********************* Jayme set on her bed staring at the ceiling, thinking about Jake. He was hiding something and she knew it. 'But what is it?' She thought. She had some free time shortly after she finished the album and she planned on paying a surprise visit to her family and friends, and most importantly Jake.

She rolled over on her side and stared out the window, she saw a bird setting on the railing of the balcony, it seemed so free. She wished she could be like that, free, happy.............alive.
