Chapter 12
"Home sweet home!" Jayme said as her and Nick stepped off the plane that had just landed in Bristol Valley, California.
"So your Mom and Dad gonna pick us up here?" Nick asked.
"Yeah........oh look there they are." Jayme responded as she spotted her Mother and Father walking excitedly towards her.
"Jayme!!! God it has been too long." Her Mom stated.
"Mom, Dad, this is Nick. He is a member of the Backstreet Boys, as I'm sure you're aware of. He is going to be staying with us."
"Hi! Nice to meet both of you, and if I'm intruding I'm sorry and I have no problem staying at a hotel." Nick said politely shaking the Caruso's hands.
"Don't be silly." Mrs. Caruso started. "I won't hear of it, you stay in hotel's way too often, you will stay with us and have a home cooked meal for once. We saw that you escorted Jayme to the Teen Choice Awards, we would love to meet anyone who is becoming so close with our daughter."
Jayme blushed at the last statement her Mom made.
"Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Caruso." Nick said.
The four headed out to the parking lot and found the Caruso's car, they headed to their household making small talk along the way. As they pulled into the driveway Jayme and Nick grabbed their luggage and made their way upstairs. Nick would be taking the guestroom.
"There are comforters and extra pillows in the hall closet if you need them." Jayme told Nick.
"This is great. Thanks. And your parents are great also."
"Yeah they are. I miss them so much being on tour."
"I know how that is. But atleast you get to see them on break. I get a week off and my Mom is with my younger brother helping his career along."
"Your whole family sings huh?"
"Almost, but me, my little brother and sister are the only two making a career out of it."
"I'm sorry you don't get to spend time with them."
"Me too. But thanks."
"You can spend time with me and my friends while we're here, who knows maybe you'll meet the girl of your dreams."
Nick sighed heavily, and then sadly said. "I don't think the girl of my dreams exist. I don't have high standards, just a girl who can deal with my career."
**********************************
Jayme stood infront of her bathroom mirror brushing her hair and preparing for dinner. Her and Nick were to go out afterwards, she knew exactly where to go. A place she was sure Jake would be, and Kayla would no doubt be with him.
'This my chance.' She thought. 'They will never know what hit them.'
She made her way downstairs to the dining room to find Nick and her parents in a discussion.
"What's going on here?" She asked cheerfully.
Nick looked up at her and answered, "We were just talking about what it's like being on tour."
"UGH!!!! Can we please not talk about that now?"
Mrs. Caruso laughed as she stood from her seat. "Okay no tour talk. Dinner's ready we'll talk about something esle."
Indeed they did, they talked about dance rehearsals, talk shows, awards shows, Nick and Jayme going to an award show together.........
Noone was more happy than Jayme when they were finished eating and her and Nick could leave. She had begun getting nervous about the whole situation, but that didn't stop her.
They arrived at a local teenage hangout ten minutes later and she walked right next to Nick as they entered the arcade, not hesitating to grab his hand.
She knew that if she found her way to Jake right away he would know something was up, she had to make it look like she had no idea he would be there.
An hour later Jayme turned her head from Nick so he would see that she was on the verge of spitting out a mouth full of Pepsi, caused by laughing too hard. Nick had made a joke about a game they had just played. They had had so much fun all night long, so much fun infact, that Jayme didn't even realize she had forgotten about Jake and Kayla.
Nick looked behind them and found that some people had begun dancing.
"Wanna dance?" He asked Jayme.
"Why I'd love to. Oh imagine little ol' me dancing with the one and only Nick Carter. My what will all his fans here tonight think." Jayme joked about all the autographs Nick had had to sign that night.
The two danced rarely taking their eyes off each other. Two anyone around them they would have seemed to be hopelessly in love, but under it all there was pain and betrayal for the two to come.
"Who taught you how to dance Carter?" Jayme asked looking up at him laughter dancing in her eyes.
"I just do whatever choreographer's tell me to do." Nick answered. "Why?"
"Cause you just stepped on my toe."
"Oh. Sorry."
"No problem." Jayme said giggling.
"So this has been fun. Thanks for inviting me along."
"Yeah it has been." Jayme said somewhat sadly.
"What's wrong?"
A fake smile crossed Jayme's face as she lied, "Everything is perfect, Carter."
"Good."
"So...........I was thinking we could go swimming tomorrow. I know how you love that. And I know a great place." Jayme suggested.
"Great, I love to swim."
"I know. I know."
Just then someone walked up behind Jayme as Nick looked up at them Jayme turned and was shocked to see the two people she had come to see in the first place. She looked at them and smiled as if she were forced to, then lazily said.
"Oh. Hey Jake. Kayla."
