The time had come for Laura to leave. They had spent a wonderful week together, and they both knew as soon as Laura stepped on that plane, they would both be very upset. It was hard for them to accept the fact that Laura would have to leave. The night before they didn’t talk about it, and they didn’t really talk about it ‘til they had to.
They had been all around Orlando, shopping at the malls, sight seeing, and most importantly they talked. They had been apart from each other for a week, for some they may think that a week is nothing, but for them it was an eternity. They were best friends. Days was too long to be apart. Missing one day of talking, would take a long time to catch up. They always had things to talk about, not one dry moment ever went by. The change was hard for both of them, but they would find a way to work it out.
The day before it was time for Laura to leave, they had gone over to WEG so she could say bye to the guys. Justin had let Katlyn take his other car, a Mercedes M-class, to drive Laura around and take her to the airport; but she had strict instructions to be VERY careful with it. If there was one scratch, she would pay for it.
After finally facing reality, the girls got up and started getting ready. Laura’s flight would leave at two, meaning they would have to be there at one. It was already ten in the morning, so they didn’t have much time left.
They talked most of the time. And before they knew it, it was already time to go. They got in Justin’s car and drove to the Orlando airport. After parking, Katlyn helped Laura with her bags and walked in to get Laura checked in. A couple minutes later, the announcement was made for Laura’s flight.
“Flight 1361 to Los Angeles is now boarding.”
Katlyn and Laura stood up. “Ok, call me as soon as you get home!” Katlyn ordered.
“I will. Don’t be so depressed, we’ll see each other again soon!” Laura said holding back tears.
“I know.” Katlyn said also holding back tears.
Katlyn and Laura hugged and then Laura got on the plane. Katlyn exited the airport a few minutes later and got in the car. She went to the WEG ‘play house’ to see what the guys were doing and to give Justin his car back. Even though she was trying as hard as she could to hold back the tears, a few escaped her eyes and dripped down her cheek. She soon was there and parked outside the house. Before she walked in, she whipped the tears away, then she walked in. They guys were sitting tin the living room eating lunch. They looked up when she walked in.
“Hey, Katlyn!” They all chimed.
Katlyn tried her best to smile. “Hey, guys.”
Justin stood up and walked over to her. “Are you ok?”
Katlyn tried to smile again, but ended up bursting into tears. Justin wrapped his arms around her and let her cry into his chest. The other guys watched worried.
“Shhh…its ok.” He tried calming her down. “What’s a matter?”
Katlyn lifter her head up a little, took a deep breath and spoke. “Laura just left.”
She started crying again, Justin just hugged her tighter. He gently pulled her over to the couch he was sitting on. He sat down and let her sit down with him. He handed her a tissue. She whipped the tears away and put her head on his shoulder.
“Why are you crying so much?” Justin asked.
“It’s just that Laura is my best friend and when she left, it was like leaving California again.” She sniffled and whipped her eyes again.
Justin put his arm around her and pulled her close again. Just then Johnny and her dad walked out.
“Ok guys, are you almost done?…Hey, Katlyn. When did you get here?” Johnny asked.
Her dad looked at her and got worried. “Katlyn? What happened?”
“I just took Laura to the airport.” She said feeling the tears come back.
Justin hugged her tighter and waved to her dad so he wouldn’t say any more.
She stayed awhile to watch the guys dance and then decided to go back home.
Justin stopped her before she left. “Are you going to be ok?”
“Yeah. I’ll get over it soon.” Katlyn answered.
“Ok. Be careful going home. I’ll call you later.” He hugged her and let her leave.
Katlyn decided to walk home, just to clear her mind and relax.
“Mom, I’m home!” Katlyn said loudly walking through the door.
Her mom walked in the room. “Hey, what took you so long?”
“I dropped Laura off and kinda just hung out.” Katlyn lied.
“Are you ok, Katlyn?” Her mom asked worried.
“Yeah, I’m fine…I was just a little upset when Laura left.”
“I’m sorry. How does shopping sound?” Her mom asked.
Katlyn perked up. “Really?”
“Well, you would have to take Ty and Michelle…I’ll give you money though.” Her mother explained.
Katlyn sighed. “Yeah, I guess.”
Katlyn’s mom walked away to get Tyler and Michelle. A couple minutes later they came walking out. Hr mom handed her some money.
“Michele wants to get a new bathing suit…Tyler wants some toy-he’ll tell you which one he wants.” Katlyn nodded her head.
Katlyn, Michelle, and Tyler walked out to the car and got in. The ride there was quiet, but Tyler broke the silence.
“When can I see Jonathan again?” He asked.
“I don’t know, Ty. I don’t think mom wants us to be friends with them.” Katlyn tried to explain.
“Friends with who?” Michelle asked, with a hint of attitude.
“Some people…you could have met them but you didn’t want to go! So don’t start asking question now!” Katlyn hated her sisters attitude.
“Jeez. What’s your problem?”
Katlyn rolled her eyes. “Just drop it.”
Michelle huffed and turned to look out the window. Tyler looked between the two and then decided to continue.
Why not, Katlyn?”
Katlyn parked the car outside the mall and turned to look at Tyler. “I don’t know, Ty. I’ll see what I can do though.”
Tyler smiled and got out of the car. The three walked in.
“I want to go to that store.” Michelle ordered.
“But I wanna go over there!” Tyler whined.
Michelle stuck her hand out. “Give me some money and I’ll go by myself and meet yp with you guys later.”
“I don’t think so! Mom would kill me!…Tyler, we’re going to get Michelle her bathing suit then we’ll go get your toy. Is that ok?” Katlyn reasoned.
Tyler pouted. “Yeah, ok.”
After finally settling on a bathing suit for Michelle, they went to the toy store to but Tyler a new video game.
Katlyn was completely exhausted, so she decided not to get anything. With Laura leaving, all the crying, and now shopping with Michelle and Tyler, all she wanted to do was go to sleep. She couldn’t wait to be in her room.
“Hello?” Katlyn asked groggily answering her phone.
“Hey, Katlyn!” The voice answered.
“Katlyn sat up in her bed and looked at the clock; it was seven thirty at night.
“Um…”
“It’s Justin.” He laughed.
“Oh…hey, what’s up?”
“Nothin’ much, just wanted to know how you were feeling.”
“Actually I was just sleeping, I had to take Tyler and Michelle out shopping…Michelle was in total bitch mode.”
Justin laughed. “Aww, I’m sorry.”
“It’s not your fault!”
“Yeah, well…” Justin laughed again.
“Katlyn!” Her mother yelled from downstairs.
“Ugh, my mom’s calling me. I’ll talk to you later.” Katlyn said.
"Ok, I’ll see you around!” After that they hung up.
“I should have told her.” Justin muttered to himself. “But it wasn’t a good time...what kind of friend would I be if I asked her out while she was getting over her best friend leaving?”
“Justin! Are you talking to yourself?” JC laughed walking into the room Justin was in.
“Um...no. I was just kind of...yeah I guess you can say I was talking to myself.” Justin sat on the couch.
“You ok, J?” JC asked seeing the confused face on his younger friend.
“I don’t know anymore.” Justin laughed a little.
“What’s wrong?”
“Would I be a bad friend if I asked out someone who I knew was having a hard time right now?...I mean, she’s vulnerable right now, right?...Why can’t I understand women?” Justin’s face got even more confused while he slumped back in the chair.
“You’re talking about Katlyn, right?” JC sat across from Justin.
“How’d you know?” Justin said sarcastically.
“Wild guess. Everyone knows you like her, and everyone can tell she likes you...but right now she’s having a hard time living in Florida, away from her friends. So, you should stay just friends for a little while longer, let her know you’re there for her, and eventually, we’ll see what happens!” JC explained.
“Uh! Longer? How much longer?” Justin whined.
“Until she feels comfortable here.”
“She looks comfortable here.” Justin said.
“She might look comfortable, but she might not feel comfortable. Get it?”
“Ugh! I told you I don’t understand women!” Justin closed his eyes, the look of confusion still on his face.
JC laughed. “No man understands women, you just have to live with that.”
JC left the room to let Justin think for himself.
Justin finally decided that not telling Katlyn his feelings for her at this moment would be a good idea. But, he wanted to let her know, and he wanted to let her know now.
