Chapter Nine

“Okay guys...where is he? We don’t have time for jokes.”

“Honestly, Fatima, we haven’t seen him since yesterday.”

“We need him here. He doesn’t know what’s in store for him now!!!”

“Look, me and Becca will go find him, cuz we know some places he might be. You start without us.” Brian said.

“Try to hurry.”

“We will.”

“Okay, Bec, where should we try first?”

“I guess his house. Maybe he overslept or something”

“Okay.”

They drove to his house. His car was parked out front, so at least they knew he was there. But then Becca realized something wasn’t right. The front door was cracked. The events from her dream played through her mind, and she started getting lightheaded.

“You go in first, Brian.”

“Okay...”

But they ended up walking in together. The scene was different, yet so much the same, as her dream. But this time Nick was on the couch, with dozens of beer bottles and cans all around him. Broken glass was everywhere.

“Oh my God...” Brian said.

“We’ve got to wake him up.”

Becca and Brian walked over to the couch. Becca bent down and picked a picture off of Nick’s lap, and looked at it. Tears formed in hereyes as she looked at the picture. It was a picture of them at the prom.

“He did this because of me,” Becca cried.

“Becca, don’t blame yourself. He was just upset. People do some crazy things when they’re upset. I’ll be back. I’m gonna call Fatima.”

“Okay.”

Becca sat down right by the couch and cried. She loved to cry, because it helped her deal with her problems better. Then she felt someone running their hands through her hair. She looked up...

“Nick...”

“Becca, I’m so sorry.”

“Nick, It’s my fault. I wouldn’t listen to you.”

“Don’t blame yourself. It wasn’t you. I was just upset, and I really overreacted.”

“No, I was the one who overreated.”

“Well, we both did. But it’s over now, right?”

“Did you do it?”

“Do what?”

“With Riley.”

“Becca, you know I wouldn’t.”

Then Brian walked back in the room.

“So I see ya woke up. Care to explain?”

“I’ll talk to ya about it later, Rok.”

“Okay, well, I told Fatima that you two probably wouldn’t be back to rehearsal when I am, so can you get yourselves there?”

“Yeah, we’ll manage.”

“Okay, I’m gonna go ahead and go.”

“Bye.”

“Later.”

Brian walked out the door, and it left complete silence in the house.

“How do you feel?”

“Um, fine now, but as far as I remember, I got pretty crazy last night.”

~*Flashback To The Night Before*~

Nick left the building very upset. He went and got in his car, and just let the tears come. He felt terrible, yet he didn’t know why. He hadn’t done anything. But he was furious with Riley. He started driving home, still crying. When he got home, he went to the kitchen to get something to drink. He remembered he had just gotten some beer that a friend had wanted him to get for a party he was having.

“Oh, what the heck!” he thought.

He took all of it out of the fridge. There was a six pack of cans and a six pack of bottles. He took a can, and sat down at the kitchen table and thought about Becca. About how beautiful she was, and how soft her skin felt, and how silky her hair was. And how much he missed her. Before he knew it, all of the cans were gone, and he was working on his first bottle. He picked up the beer that was left, and carried them over to the couch. When he finished all the bottles, some were on the floor, and some were spread out in tiny pieces....and then he blacked out......

~*Back To The Present*~

“You feel up to going to rehearsal?”

“Yeah, I’m fine now.”

“Okay. But I’m driving.”

“That’s fine.”
