"I have a date tonight. Try to make yourself scarce. God knows what he would think if he knows I live with a guy." Hannah said.
Nick just nodded and grabbed her keys. Hannah left the apartment right after him.
Around 5 pm, she met up with her date. They had dinner, went to a movie and then headed to her apartment.
Later on, Hannah and her date were sitting in the living room talking when Nick's door flung open and he walked out.
He was a sight to see. Nick was wearing boxers, no shirt, a bathrobe that was wide open, his hair was a mess and he had a half eaten sandwich hanging loosely out of his hand.
"Hey babe, when'd you get home?" he asked as he took a bite of his sandwich and let the lettuce fall on the floor.
Hannah gaped her mouth open at the sight of him.
"Ugh Hannah, whose this?" her date asked confused.
"Oh, she didn't tell you we were living together? About a month now." Nick said lazily itching his stomach.
"Hannah, uh, I gotta go." her date said before getting up and fleeing the apartment.
The minute the door closed, Nick laughed at the little act he had just put on.
"That's it!" Hannah yelled, "That is it !"
She stood up and stormed over to where he was standing.
"Why would you do that?" she shouted.
"Oh come on! You did the same to me." he said with annoyance in his voice.
"She was just some random blonde! That guy really liked me." she debated.
"God, do you enjoy being so self impressed that no one can stand you?" he cried out.
The breath caught in Hannah's throat and her eyes began to water.
'Don't let him get to you, don't let him get to you...' she said in her head.
"Hannah, I am really sorry, I didn't mean it like that." Nick said feeling horrible at what he had said.
"I...I think I am going to start looking for a new place to live tomorrow." she said as her eyes overflowed with tears.
She walked off to her room and Nick collapsed in a chair, silently scolding himself. He picked up his phone and dialed Brian's number.
"Hey what's up?" Brian asked.
"Nothing, I just made Hannah cry. I feel so guilty."
"What'd you do?"
"Just a stupid thing to get back at her, but I ended up being wicked mean to her and she started crying, and said she is going to look for a new place to move into." he said.
"Maybe it's for the better." Brian said.
"I don't know."
"Well, why didn't you guys look for different apartments all this time?" he asked.
"I don't know. There was just something..."
Brian laughed lightly over the phone.
"Yeah, well don't worry about it, it will work out. I gotta go. Bye."
"Bye Rok."
Nick hung up and sunk lower into the seat.
What was keeping them living together?
