Chapter 6

Hannah woke up at 7am and did her usual morning routine. When she was about to leave, she noticed an envelope taped to the door with her name written on it sloppily. She grabbed it and headed out the door.

Nick got up and went out to the kitchen to get a drink. He looked at the door and noticed the letter was gone. He hoped Hannah had read it.

At work, Hannah looked at the clock and sighed. She had five hours left, and she had a migraine. She remembered the envelope, so she reached in her bad and grabbed it. She opened the envelope and took out the note inside.

Hannah,
I'm really sorry about what I said last night.
We may have gotten off to a bad start, but let's start okay.
Nick

Hannah smiled and put the letter in her bag.

Two hours later, Hannah's head was pounding so hard, so felt sick to her stomach. She picked up the phone and dialed the apartment.

"Please be home, please be home..." she said to herself.

"Hello?" Nick answered.

"Hey, it's Hannah."

"Oh hey, what's up" he asked sounding a little surprised she was calling.

"I feel really gross, so I just wanted to ask if you could not have anyone over tonight or anything." she said rubbing her temples.

"Yeah sure." he said sounding preoccupied.

"Okay, thanks Nick. Bye."

Forty-five minutes later, Hannah went to her boss's office and told him she was heading home early. She drove home quickly and sighed happily when she reached her front door. When Hannah opened the door she couldn't believe her eyes.

There was four guys and Nick piled into chairs and on the couch, watching a football game. There was bags of chips and empty soda cans everywhere. They all jumped up and cheered as their team made a goal.

Nick noticed Hannah standing in the doorway and he walked over, grabbed her arm and lead her to the living room.

"Brian, Kevin, this is Hannah. Hannah, you know AJ and Howie." he said.

Hannah waved hello to everyone then turned to Nick.

"Can we talk? Alone." she said with a bit of an attitude.

Nick shrugged, "Sure."

He followed her into the kitchen and she turned around to face him.

"Nick, this afternoon, when I called you, I asked you if you could have no one over tonight. Remember? And instead you invite over every one of your friends?" Hannah said furious.

Nick looked as if he was thinking, then it dawned on him.

"Oh god, your sick, right? I'm sorry I totally forgot." he said apologetically.

"Was it so much to ask?" she said walking of to her room, closing the door.

"Great job starting over with her Carter." Nick said quietly to himself.
