"8.5" Brooke said matter-of-factly.
"No way! He's a 6." Julia said making a face.
For the past 10 minutes, the girls had been judging guys at the pool on a scale from 1 to 10, 10 being the best. A few minutes later, Nick trudged over and sat down at the bottom of Julia's lounge seat.
"Hey ladies." he said.
"Well?" Brooke asked.
"9." Gabby said.
"9." Brooke agreed.
"4.5" Julia giggled.
"4.5?! Julia your just so cute." he said pinching her cheek.
She laughed and swatted his hand away, then her cell phone rang.
"Hello?" Julia answered wondering who would be calling her.
"Where are you?" Devon's voice boomed over the phone.
Nick noticed that the smile from Julia's face faded.
"Devon, we are over. I called you before I left for Hawaii. So please don't call me again." she said confidently.
"Whatever. Are you with that loser Nick? He'll never really love you. He's just using you, like every guy will in your life." Devon said hatefully.
Nick heard what Devon said so he grabbed the phone from Julia and turned it off.
Julia got up and walked off to the hotel room. Nick followed her because he could tell she was upset. Gabby and Brooke just sat in there seats, lost by the whole scene.
Nick got into the hotel room right after Julia. She was sitting on the bed, flipping mindlessly through a magazine. Nick sat down next to her and closed the magazine.
"What Devon said isn't true." he said.
Julia didn't say anything, so Nick leaned over to kiss her cheek, to reassure her, but she moved away.
"Don't Nick. Devon was right. I mean, look at the pattern already! The guy Danny at the party, used me. Devon, used me. What's different this time?" she said.
"I care about you more than that." he said taking her hand.
Julia looked down at his hand and then smiled. She pushed him back on the bed and planted a long kiss on him. When she pulled back, Nick looked up at her with a smirk on his face.
"What was that for?" he asked.
"Your the best boyfriend a girl could have!" she smiled.
Nick laughed at her and pulled her down for another kiss.
