After Julia's last class of the day on Friday, she went back to her room and threw her books on the bed. She checked the messages on there answering machine, and there was one from Gabby, saying to call her on her cell phone. So Julia picked up the cordless phone and dialed the number.
"Gabby here."
"Hey it's Julia. I got your message."
"Oh, hey chicky! What's your plans for tonight?" Gabby asked.
"An exciting night of Friends reruns." Julia said, sounding not too thrilled.
"AJ is throwing a party at his place and a bunch of people are gonna be there. Come with me?" Gabby pleaded.
"Whose AJ?"
"My boyfriend. Didn't I tell you? I guess not!" Gabby giggled.
"Oh, yeah I'll come. Is Brooke?" Julia wondered.
"No, she has another date with that Jack guy."
"Oh okay. So what time should I be ready by?" Julia asked.
"I'll be home at 8, then we will get ready together. Kay?" she asked.
"Yeah, see ya then." Julia said.
"Later."
Julia put the phone back on the receiver. Then she did work on an essay and laid down to have a little nap. A few hours later, Gabriella came home and woke Julia up. Within an hour, the girls were in Gabby's car, headed to the party.
A few minutes later, Gabriella was leading Julia into a house full of people and loud music. She lead her up back near the kitchen, where a group of people were hanging out talking. Gabby went up and kissed on the cheek.
"Hey, this is Julia." she said to the guy, who Julia guessed was AJ.
"Hi, I'm AJ." he said extending a hand.
Julia shook it lightly, "Hi."
AJ pointed to the guy next to him, "This is Brian."
Brian stepped forward a little.
"Hi Julia." he said with a southern accent.
Julia smiled, "Hey."
Gabby turned to Brian, "Where is the rest of the guys?"
"Kevin and Howie couldn't come, but Nick's somewhere in here." he said.
Out of nowhere, a blonde haired guy came up through the crowd, to the kitchen.
"Hey Gab, how are ya?" he said lightly laying his arm across her shoulders.
"Hey, I want you to meet Julia. She is my new roommate and friend." Gabby said smiling at Julia.
Julia shot her back a smirk.
"Hi, your Nick? Right?" Julia said trying to be loud over the music.
"Yeah, it's nice to meet you." he said.
Nick looked at Gabby talking to AJ, then looked back at Julia.
"Wanna dance?" he said leaning closer to her, so she could hear him.
"Sure." she said walking out to the room where everyone was dancing.
After dancing and talking for a few songs, Julia said she was going to find Gabby.
Nick walked off back to the kitchen to get a drink when he saw Brian standing near the counter. He walked over to him to talk.
"Hey." Nick yelled over the music.
"Hey, where have you been?" Brian asked.
"Dancing with Julia ... what do you think about her?"
"She seems really nice." Brian said spotting Julia getting dragged off to somewhere by Gabby.
"Yeah..." Nick said spotting them too.
"You like her or something?" Brian asked.
"No, I mean, she seems like someone want to hang out with."
"Sure." Brian said not believing Nick.
Across the room, Gabby was introducing Julia to another group of people. Julia started talking to a guy named Danny for a while, then he went off to get them drinks.
A few minutes later, he came back and handed her a soda.
She looked across the room and saw Nick, just as Nick saw her. She smiled and he smiled back at her.
Nick turned to Brian.
"B, who is that with Julia?" Nick asked.
"Why? Afraid someone is going to steal your little crush away?" Brian laughed.
"No, I have never seen him before."
Brian glanced across the room and saw Julia and the guy laughing and talking in between gulps of their sodas.
"He looks harmless. I wouldn't worry about it." Brian said.
An hour later, Gabriella saw Julia dancing with the same guy she had introduced her to. She walked over to her to see how she was enjoying the party.
"Hey Jul, you having fun?"
"Yeah, this party rocks!" she said loudly.
Julia clumsily tripped over her own two feet and hugged Gabby.
"Girl, this is great." she said laughing.
Gabby eyed Julia, because she wasn't acting like herself at all. Julia was usually quiet and shy, not an outrageous party girl type.
"You ok?" Gabby asked.
"Couldn't be better!" she said gulping down the last of her soda.
"Alright, have fun." Gabriella said walking off.
Gabby noticed Nick and Brian in the kitchen, so she headed over there.
"Do either of you know the guy whose with Julia?"
"No, why?" Nick asked.
"I don't trust him. And Julia's acting weird." Gabby said sounding worried.
Nick looked over to where Julia had been a couple of minutes ago, but she wasn't there.
"Where are they?" he asked.
"I don't know. They were just there." Gabby said glancing over to where they had been.
Nick looked over the room, just in time to see Danny leading Julia upstairs.
