When she confronted Jack, he told her that the girl he was with, was his cousin. Do cousins hold hands and make goo-goo eyes at each other?
She painfully remembered their conversation.
"That's it Jack! We are over. I am not going to site by and watch you cheat on me like an idiot!" she yelled.
"Brooke, I swear she's my cousin. I will make this up to you. Why don't I take you out tomorrow afternoon?" Jack pleaded.
"I've got plans and we are over. It's not worth it." she said turning around.
He grabbed her arm and pulled her back.
"You were never worth anything." he whispered hatefully.
Brooke turned from his grasp and managed to keep her tears in until she reached her room...
A knock at the door brought Brooke out of her thoughts. She threw the cucumber slices in the trash and checked herself in the mirror. Then she went to answer the door.
"Hey." she said opening the door to see Brian.
"Hi. I brought movies and chinese food." he said revealing a bag.
"Ooh ... thanks!" she said closing the door behind him.
He came into the little kitchen with her as she grabbed plates and glasses.
"Uh, Brooke?" he said as he grabbed the food out of the bag.
"Yeah?" she replied turning to the mini fridge to get drinks.
"I came here for other reasons than dinner and a movie."
"Oh?" she said.
She knew he wanted to talk about something, she just wasn't sure what.
"Yeah. But why don't we get our drinks and food first?" he offered.
Brooke shrugged, "Fine with me."
They grabbed the food, plates, and drinks and plopped down on the couch next to each other. Brooke took a sip of her drink and turned towards Brian.
"So?" she said.
"When I came back from the trip I noticed you looked really sad. I know you tried to hide it, but I could tell. Same as tonight." he said.
"Brian-"
"You know if you lie, I'll know. You can trust me. Tell me what's wrong." he interrupted her.
Brooke looked down at her drink then back up at Brian.
"I caught Jack cheating on me. He was making-" she said but her voice got shaky.
"I saw him making out with some random girl at a club when me and Gab and Julia went out. I confronted him and he lied. But I loved him. So I decided maybe it was just that one time. Right? Well, I am downtown today and who do I see with another girl? I bet you can guess. If it was just a guy I had dated a few times, I would just dump him. But this is different. I loved him." Brooke confessed sounding sad.
Brian listened to every word she said. He didn't say anything, he just pulled her into a comforting hug. He heard Brooke start to cry lightly. And soon his shoulder began to feel a little wet.
"Brooke, you deserve more than that." Brian said softly.
"Jack told me ... I wasn't worth anything." Brooke said revealing everything to Brian.
"He didn't deserve you. He never did, never will. And you are worth a lot, to many people. I know you mean a lot to me." he said kindly.
"I don't know why to say but thank you. Thank you so much." she said smiling and wiping away her tears.
Brian smiled and picked up the egg foo young.
"Have you ever noticed how gross this stuff really is?" he said with a little laugh.
Brooke laughed and nodded. Leave it to Brian to always cheer her up. No matter what, she knew he'd always be there for her.
