Six days after Leigh had moved out, she called up Anna.
"Hey." she said.
"Hi girlie. How are you?" Anna said in a voice trying to be cheery.
"Fine. I was calling to see how you and Nick are." Leigh said mumbling Nick's name.
"I'm good. But Nick is...bad. He mopes around the house all day. And he is constantly playing Yesterday by the Beatles. It's kind of weird." Anna said.
Leigh giggled a little, she could just picture Nick sitting in his room blasting the song.
"Okay, well I gotta get going. Just watch out for him, for me. Okay?" Leigh said.
"Yeah, Bye." Anna said before hanging up the phone.
Anna went to the kitchen to get a drink and when she heard the all too familiar "Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away..." come out of Nick's room, she cringed.
Anna had to do something, she couldn't take another day of that song.
A week later, it was Anna and Leigh's graduation. After they went through the diploma ceremony, they spotted Brian and Nick talking with their parents so they headed over there. Brian kissed Anna, then hugged Leigh.
"Congratulations Graduates." Brian said in a teacher voice.
The girls laughed together. Nick hugged and congratulated Anna.
Then he turned to Leigh, "Congratulations Leigh."
"Thanks." she said.
Nick couldn't believe that not even two weeks ago, he knew he had so much to say to her, but now with her in front of him, he couldn't think of a single thing to say.
"Can we talk later? I have my graduation party later, but after that I am free." Leigh said out of nowhere.
"Yeah that would be good." he smiled.
Leigh hugged him tightly, then went on saying congrats to her friends.
About 5 hours later, when she was finished with her graduation and party, she hopped into her car, and headed to Nick's.
"Hey girl! Nick's in his room if you are here for him." Anna said winking.
Leigh laughed and headed down the hall to Nick's room.
She knocked lightly on the door.
"It's open." he called from inside.
Leigh walked in and closed the door behind her.
"Hey." he said happy to see her.
"Hi, how've you been?" she asked sitting down on the bed near him.
"Okay. What about you?" he asked.
"Bad. Really, really bad. But uh, before we get to that, wanna go for a walk on the beach?"
"Sure." Nick agreed.
So the two headed out the back door, and started walking along the beach.
