"So polite!" he said teasing her.
"Shut up Nick." Leigh said laughing at him, "You mom's so nice." she added.
Nick laid down onto his bed, on his stomach, and turned on the TV. Leigh settled down next to him.
"Move over, your taking up the whole bed." she said complaining.
"Quit whining." he said moving over a little.
"I do not whine! And even if I did, you can't make me stop." she said childishly.
"I know how to make you stop!" Nick said.
Leigh was just turning her head to make a face, and her lips met his in a short, sweet kiss. She smiled and looked back to the TV. While she was watching TV, she noticed Nick kept glancing at her. She turned her head towards him.
"What?" she asked still giddy from the kiss.
"Just thinking of how cute you are." Nick said.
"Aww! Your such a sweet boy." she said pinching his cheeks, joking around.
He leaned in for another kiss, and she kissed him back but then she pulled away.
"I don't think this is right, Nick. Your Mom is right downstairs and..." she said, hesitating for the second part, "we're not dating." she said more quietly, hoping it didn't hurt him.
Nick sat up and moved over from Leigh a little.
"Nick, I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like-" she said instantly feeling bad.
"No, your right, sorry I ever kissed you." he said.
Leigh was a little taken aback by the last thing he said.
About 5 minutes later, Jane popped her head in the room.
"Aaron and Angel are going to their friends houses and BJ, Leslie and I are going shopping. Do you kids need anything?" Nick's mother asked kindly.
They both said no, and Jane left, leaving Nick and Leigh alone in the house.
She tried to watch the TV but after about 15 minutes of silence, she got up off the bed. Nick glanced at her, then back to the TV. She walked out of the room, and Nick let out a big sigh knowing he had upset her. He caught up with her right at the door.
"Leigh, don't leave..." Nick said starting to feel bad.
"Why? So we can sit in silence?" she said annoyed.
"No. I'm sorry about what I said. I didn't mean it." he said pulling her closer.
Leigh tried to be angry at him, but she couldn't.
"It's okay." she said forgiving him.
Nick grabbed her hand, and brought her back into his room.
They started watching TV again, but Leigh's mind was elsewhere. Nick looked at her and noticed her eyes were glued to the TV.
"Leigh?" Nick said trying to get her attention.
Leigh snapped out of her daze.
"Sorry." she said quickly and went back to watching TV.
Nick noticed she was still wasn't all the way there.
"Leigh!" Nick half shouted.
She jumped a mile, "Sorry Nick, my mind is somewhere else." she said flipping onto her side so she was facing him.
"Where is it?" Nick said pushing closer to her.
Leigh laughed a little and pushed him back, "Not there. Nick, I'm serious." she said.
Nick stopped kidding around and paid attention.
"What are we?" Leigh asked him.
Nick laughed, "Is that what's on your mind? Well, we are just ... us." he said.
Leigh rolled her eyes, "No! I mean are we a couple? Are we really close friends? Are we just people who kiss? I need to know." Leigh said.
"Why's it so important?"
"Well, when people ask us what we are I don't even know. And that just makes me confused." Leigh a little annoyed she had to explain herself.
Nick brushed a piece of her hair out of her eyes.
"Well, we are really close friends, I guess." Nick said, lying.
Leigh put on a fake smile, but inside her heart ached for him to say that he needed her.
They both turned their focus back to the TV. After and hour or two, Leigh said she needed to get going.
Nick grabbed his keys and they headed off towards her house.
Before Leigh got out of the car, Nick apologized again for the fight they had earlier. Then they decided to do something tomorrow or the next day.
He was about to kiss her good-bye, but she dodged the kiss and got out of the car.
She waved good-bye, hoping Nick didn't notice getting away from the kiss. She just thought if they weren't dating then they shouldn't kiss.
As she closed her front door, she watched a very confused Nick drive away.
