Chapter 19

The next morning, Lauren woke up to find Nick staring at her, just like she had stared at him the previous morning. “Hi, baby,” Nick whispered. He was under the covers next to her.

“Hey. What time is it?” Lauren replied.

“It’s eleven. I made you breakfast.” He motioned to the bedside table. Eggs, orange juice, and pancakes sat on top of it, the pancakes with just enough butter and syrup.

“You didn’t have to do that,” Lauren said. However, she took the plate anyway and nibbled on the food.

Nick sighed. “I got a call from Brian. We’re leaving in a week and a half instead of three weeks. Fatima wants us to learn some new dances.” He noticed Lauren’s disappointed look and grabbed her hand. “I’m sorry, babe. You know I’d stay here with you if I could.”

“I know. I’m really going to miss you, though,” Lauren said softly.
