"Jess?" JC asked as he tip-toed into her room. The chiffon curtains were closed over her windows, the fading afternoon light casting a pale yellow color into the room.
She was huddling underneath a mess of blankets, only a few strands of her black hair protruding over the white sheets. She sniffled loudly and shifted positions before realizing who it was.
She peeked her head over the covers, her eyes still watering with tears. "JC?" she whispered, her tired eyes meeting his.
He smiled gently and nodded, offering her a bouquet of peach colored roses and a box of tissues. "Hey baby," he said softly, reaching out to smooth her hair.
"I thought you were producing the bimbos’ CD…" she said, her voice whiny and pathetic. She cringed at the sound of it and groaned.
He smiled at her words, taking a seat at the edge of the bed. "Roxy called me and said that you might need some cheering up, so I took the next flight in," he answered, "and I have…seven and a half more hours until I need to leave for the airport…" he whispered, kissing her forehead and wiping the tears from her cheeks.
She smiled gently. "I love you, JC," she whispered as she pulled him into the bed. He slid beneath the sheets and wrapped his strong arms around her, letting her bury her head in his chest.
"I love you too, babe," he answered, kissing the top of her head.
In all the madness, he had managed to be her repose, her sanity. And it amazed her completely. His sheer love for her, frightened her not only because it was so deep and powerful but because it was completely foreign to her.
She had never been the one with the fairy tale ending. She was always the one to cry. The one who got dumped or burned, the list went for miles. And through the years, she had come to accept that. She never planned on finding someone who loved her the way she loved them, Justin had proved that that was a task far too impossible for any man to accomplish.
But here he was, her angel, a little bit of heaven to calm the storm. And she loved him for it.
"Do you want to talk about it sweetie?" he asked as he pulled away slightly to look at her.
She shook her head and then smiled softly, sighing contentedly as she placed her head in the crook of his neck. "Everything’s better now that you’re here…" she whispered.
He smiled, those were the best words he had ever heard her say.
"J, talk to me!!" he pleaded through the door. He waited a few seconds in silence then tried again. "Jess, I know you can hear me! COME ON!" he shouted. Three days had passed and she still hadn’t spoken to him.
She opened the door not more than a sliver and peeked out. "What do you want?" she hissed, her dark eyes narrowing.
"Jess, you’ve got to talk to me!" he said as he pressed his face into the space between the door and the wall.
She backed away and frowned deeply. "I have absolutely nothing to say to you," she said simply as she went to close the door.
"Jessica!" he said in frustration, sticking his arm through the narrowing doorway.
"Go away!" she cried desperately, her eyes conveying her hurt.
She started to shut the door, causing a cry from Justin. "Oww! You’re hurting me!" he cried as he left his arm in the doorway, it was the only thing keeping her there.
"It’s about damn time," she muttered under her breath as she threw the door open.
"Look Justin!" she said, standing before him, her hands placed firmly on her hips. "I don’t want to have anything to do with you! Did you not understand that? GO HOME TO YOUR WHORE!!!" she screamed, her voice splitting through his ears.
Justin stood blankly for a moment, completely dazed before opening his mouth to speak. "Jess, please I need you," he whispered.
She turned around and laughed, "You’ve never needed me," she spat before she slammed the door.
Jess glared at Raine from across the crowded room as she rubbed up against her date, the man who had been her accomplice in her crime. Jess felt a bitter sting burn through her veins as Raine kissed him again, her swollen lips trailing their way down his broad chest and shoulders. Raine had managed completely brainwash Justin and in the process annihilated every last shred of she and Justin’s friendship.
And as Jess stalked across the floor and over to the stage, she had only one thought in her mind: the bitch needed to be stopped.
Justin watched from above, the tears still flowing down his cheeks, and let out a short laugh. For a second, he almost felt a smidge of sympathy towards Raine. Jess looked like wolf on the hunt, her attitude vicious, the blood thirsty glare in her eyes present from even his distance. She pushed her way though the crowd and over to where Raine stood and stopped, pushing Raine off from atop the platform which she had been dancing on.
Raine was immediately offended, her eyes narrowing as she turned to face her attacker. Raine jumped forward, and grabbed Jess’ neck, her tiny hands barely inflicting any pain. Justin almost laughed as Jess slapped it away and harshly grabbed Raine’s hand, leading her through the hordes of people and out the exit.
The five men of *N Sync, shuffled out the side door, close on the tails of Jess and Raine, eager to seen the scene that was about to unfold. Raine screamed on the top of her lungs, her high pitched screech loud enough to be heard inside the club.
Jess finally stopped pulling once they reached the deserted parking lot, smiling a little as she saw her five allies shuffle in off to the side.
Raine chuckled wickedly as she placed both her hands on her full hips. "Look bitch, I don’t know what you’re trying to prove here but, Justin’s never gonna believe you," she said, unaware of Justin’s presence. "He’s never gonna be yours again, he’s never gonna want you the way he wants me."
Jess nodded, lifting a finger to her chin. "Jeez Raine, you’re so fucking smart, and just for that, you get a prize…What do we have for her guys?" she asked as Raine’s eyes widened. Jess let out a short laugh, as Raine turned around to see five very angry men, Justin included.
Raine turned, "YOU BITCH!" was her indignant cry, causing Jess to laugh again. She charged Jess, her hands grasping for whatever she could get them on. "I was going to be Mrs. Justin Timberlake! I was going to fucking have it all! I’m better than you! You’re nothing compared to me!!!" she screamed as her hands went for Jess’ long hair. She tried her best to inflict on Jess even a fraction of the hurt she was feeling at the moment, an incessant stream of tears trickling down her porcelain cheek.
The five onlookers stayed still, each ardently awaiting Jess’ attack. After a few more seconds of Raine’s tantrum, Jess had had enough and simply pushed Raine off her. Raine, who was much smaller than Jess, fell to the concrete with a thud, her blonde locks flying up as she hit the ground.
"Look Bitch, I don’t fucking want to have to deal with you again." Jess answered, her voice heavy with uncontrollable rage. "I don’t fucking want to have to look at your pathetic little face, or hear your mindless jabber. I don’t want to have to watch you as you tear my best friend from me, just so you can have your stupid little dream come true. You so much as touch me, I promise you, there will be hell to pay."
"So what would you do if I did this?" Raine asked, pulling herself from the cement and getting up into Jess’ face. She slapped Jess as hard as she could, then kneed her in the stomach, Jess buckling in pain.
Raine stood victorious as Jess winced in pain, finally standing upright again. Jess slowly sauntered over to Raine, fuming. "I’d do this," she screamed as thrust her fist into Raine’s face with as much force as she could summon. She let out a evil laugh as Raine stuttered back and then fell, a new gaping wound adorning her once flawless face.
And then as if nothing had happened, Jess calmly walked over to JC, and took shelter inside his arms. After a few moments of silence, a rarity for the bunch, she laughed.
"Anyone ready to go?"
