Le Saux Out Bad News For Chelsea!

Chelsea In the Final Against the Gunners

Result 4th Place At Last

That 3 .0 Win Puts Chelsea in 4th Place but Newcastle still have 2 Games in Hand, one against Fulham and the other against Derby Away.

                  W D L F A Pot GD
Chelsea 34 16 12 6 63 32 60 +31
Newcastle 32 18 6 8 61 43 60 +18

Newcastle's form is not at all as good as Chelsea's. BElow is the Resent Form of Both Chelsea And Newcastle From the last 5 games

                            Chelsea: WLWDW = 10 Points

                            Newcastle: LDDWD = 6 Points

Chelsea 3 Everton 0(more)

It would be tempting to say Everton were not at the races yesterday, but while Chelsea never looked like losing, both managers were quick to praise Chelsea keeper Carlo Cudicini who made three magnificent saves. In a 3-0 scoreline, that was a major factor.

Happy Anniversary, Ken

Ken Bates bought Chelsea and became chairman 20 years ago today. It was a Friday. Next day Alan Mayes scored twice to give us a 2-0 lead over Oldham which we squandered, finishing with a 2-2 draw.Chelsea were virtually bankrupt and Ken bought the club and its debts for one pound. We were 13th in the old Division Two.
The following season it took until the penultimate game of the campaign to steer off relegation to Division Three. Clive Walker is rightly remembered as the hero of the moment when he scored the crucial goal in the 1-0 win at fellow strugglers Bolton. But two purchases, Joey Jones and David Speedie, were perhaps more important than anything in the wider picture.

A lot of people expected manager John Neal to be sacked after that. But Ken supported the incumbent manager and got rid of half the team. Neal and his assistant, Ian McNeill, set about recruiting a new side that summer, and it was one of the best summers ever.

Can Chelsea Get 4th Place or Are Newcastle just To Far Away

Table (Top Half)
  P W D L F A Points GD
Liverpool 33 20 8 5 55 26 68 +29
Man Utd 33 21 4 8 82 44 67 +38
Arsenal 31 19 9 3 63 32 66 +31
Newcastle 31 18 5 8 60 42 59 +18
Chelsea 32 15 11 6 60 32 56 +28
Leeds 32 14 12 6 47 34 54 +13

Newcastle as you can see from the table above are 3 points ahead with a game in hand, maybe they are in Chelsea's view, Chelsea have the better hand of fixtures, with Ipswich, Everton, Fulham, Man Utd, Midldlesbor and finishing again Aston Villa, So Chelsea only really have 1 Hard game against Man Utd that they won last time 3.0. Whilst Newcastle have Aston Villa, Fulham, Derby, Chalton, Blackburn, West Ham And Sunderland, Most the teams you may think are easy, but teams like Derby, Blackburn and Sunderland need them points more to stay in the Premiership another season. Overal Its all down to how well the teams play. And Chelsea also have got to watch Leeds who are 2points behind, who also have easy games left!

Claudio Ranieri Happy With Result

Claudio Ranieri emphasized the difficulties in having only one day to prepare his squad for today’s important game with Derby. “I have a lot of players who played in their national teams and played only three days ago,” he claimed, by way of explanation for Chelsea’s lackluster performance.

Chelsea 2 Derby 1

In a game in which Chelsea had occasionally looked the rampant animal responsible for ripping apart Spurs and Sunderland, but for longer periods seemed sluggish in the spring sunshine, two unlikely goalscorers won the day and kept the challenge for Europe alive. More

Ranieri sets his sights on Newcastle

Claudio Ranieri sent out a warning to fourth-placed Newcastle after Chelsea's 4-0 win against Sunderland.

The Blues moved to within three points of the Magpies and automatic qualification for next season's Champions League.

Ranieri said: "Newcastle are three points ahead of us now.

"Everyone knows it will be difficult but I have said it before, and I say it again now, we must try to overtake them.

"This win was important for our confidence. I am Italian and that means I don't like to concede goals, and it is nice that we are performing consistently.

"If we want to win the league in the future then it is important to be consistent. If you are not consistent then you do not get anywhere.

"The confidence here is always the same, and I want it remain how it is for the rest of the season.

"It was important to finish this week well but now we must forget everything and focus on our next game - at Liverpool."

Chelsea turn on style

Chelsea turn on the style late in the game as Gudjohnsen, Forssell and Dalla Bona hit excellent goals to add to Gallas' opener. As they trashed Sunderland 4.0.    More
