Bluzberry Pi is a high-energy band that captures the raw intensity of roots rock and fuses it with blues with a hard edge. The band’s strength is in its music, which conjures up pure emotion and is highlighted by infectious rhythms guaranteed to get your feet tapping. The heart and soul of the band is Vinny Cervoni, lead vocalist and guitarist, who creates magic with the guitar, playing amazing riffs and leads filled with intensity and passion. The other polished players in the line-up include, Carissa Mastriano on vocals, Mike Salvo on keyboard, David Russo on bass, Jim Stavris on drums and Mike Gentile on sax, guitar and vocals.

Bluzberry Pi’s set list is a mix of traditional blues, contemporary blues, and rhythm & blues classics. In fact, in the 1999 New Haven Advocate Grand Band Slam Reader’s Poll, Bluzberry Pi placed second in the R&B/Blues Category. In 2005, Pi was a finalist in the Connecticut Blues Society's Blues Challenge. Their repertoire includes songs that date back to the Mississippi Delta in the days of Robert Johnson and Son House, and songs as contemporary as the music on “Search for Something Sweet,” the band’s original CD released in spring 2002. No wonder Pi has an extensive following that keeps coming back for more.

Bluzberry Pi has made its mark on the regional music scene, from appearing at Toad’s Place in New Haven to Black Eyed Sally’s in Hartford. The band dazzled Brian Smith and Bruce Barber when they performed live on the Smith and Barber Morning Show on WPLR 99.1 FM in New Haven, and captured a new audience when they performed in Bushnell Park in Hartford. Pi attracted an even wider fan base by playing formal occasions, including the City of Meriden’s Millennium Ball.
