Sunday, December 29, 2002 hello all, Teri doesnt wanna have a gathering at her place. So, do we wanna go out on Friday 3rd or Saturday 4th? I was thinking Panthers or Jacksons. Even if we go somewhere local, that's fine. Just somewhere with everyone. Can you get back to me ASAP? Thanks. And, spread the word. from V. p.s. thanks B for the NYE stuff :: posted by us friends 7:45 PM [+] Monday, December 23, 2002 Hey guys!! Oh my god!! Lol! A, I know you said you were going to change the page but I had no idea you were going to so soon!!! So many pics!! Your pics turned out great! hehe , now I only got to see T's and V's. ! I just wnted to say thanks for yesterday! It worked out so great! Jus wasn't even mad when I got home cause obviously I did not end up calling him! But he had a headache so he wouldn't have wanted to go out anyway! he is going to go out early instead now on Xmas eve before he goes to work so it's all cool! But yes! Thanks everybody! I was a little nervous at first cause I was expecting Cathy and Nicole to come and my reaction was "oh my god its been so long! will I still have conversation with them?" .. I know, lame but I think me thinks too much about well, everything. But how the day turned out was just perfect. And the Santa photo was just fan-friggin-tastic! I just wish the Santa was more jolly but then he must have been really tired. Ahhhh!! I am still on a high about yesterday! Time just flew....and my god! lol we just walked and talked and we talked so much we didn't even realise sometimes that we were just standing in the middle of a shop or an aisle just yakking away until one of us would eventually go "maybe we should move!" ...but yes, again, thank you for yesterday. I really got into the Xmas spirit. hehe and Arvin's face when we all got with santa for the photo was priceless! Could your smile be any wider ?!! Right now I am writing out Xmas cards...I am really sorry if they don't get to you all on time but I left it late this year. I am hoping to finish them up now and send them on their way today. I am still deciding about the 32-hour shop thing. Sorry to be so 'over-the-top' yesterday when i was like " let's all go shopping tomorrow for 32 hours!"....it was my "i dont want this day to end" thing. But my main concern is getting home...say I am buggered at 4am...the taxis are said to be on a big shortage so I am stuck there and I don't think they have a 'restroom' for the shopper-weary. Bugger...cause if they had a place where I could nap, I'd be fine. I am still laughing T about when you told me about that time ages ago when I "talked in another language" when I was asleep at your house. Freaky funny stuff. It just makes me laugh cause I remember being on the other end and seeing Cathy do it. So funny! I better head off..just wanted to blog and share my Yays! ...wish you guys well...! Luv ya all......Love B < P.S Thanks for the b-day card V...lol even though on the inside you wrote about all other stuff besides!!! Yeah about the xmas party!..first thing, yee-ha! Should be a very cool and interesting day. Second, I will be leaving early. Jus was working but they gave him the day off so we were going to go xmas shopping together cause after Sunday, he is working right up until Christmas day so it's our last chance to go all retail together. Plan is that I call him cause we both know that if I set up a time, I will be late cause I always end up getting caught up when it is to do with friends. We have all got to get together more often you guys! That's my new year's resolution! To get more friend-interactive! Oooh that could be taken the wrong way haha but there are no dirty minds here....?!! But yeah, I loved the blog group day out. I loved venting and sharing and just talking with you guys. It was just really cool. This may sound lame but there are few people I can just 'talk' to...you know...the blah blah and then suddenly the "issues of the world" sort of conversational mix. I love it! I was going to take pics of the xmas decorations in the city but when I was there, I was like "hmm what decorations?" ... there is hardly any this year. Thank god for the David Jones store. The Christmas store inside has the whole ceiling covered in Xmas wreath and lights and the Santa photo place there has a whole "North Pole" theme where kids going in have to go through "ice" and "snow" to get to Santa. It is mega cool. And every level of the store has no less than 5 christmas trees each. Fan-friggin-tastic. But the city on the overall has been lazy this year. It's why people I have talked to tell me that 'feel' it less this year..it's because it isn't in the air...Christmas should be everywhere, down our throats and in every corner of the eye. Atmosphere !! Where is the atmosphere? I know, I know...I covered this topic way back about lack of Christmas but I can't help coming back to it especially after what I saw, or didn't see today. I'm going to head off and get on with it with the xmas cards...try to be different but have no idea what to do with them this year...will think of something! Luv ya all........Love B Firstly, I friggin' love Christmas! My new reason is the fact that the shops are open so damn late. I saw a board at Blacktown for the trading hours for the week and on Wednesday and Thursday night, they are open till midnight. How friggin' cool. I know. I know. Very lame to get all "yee-ha" about but I love it. It's like everything is 'alive' for just a little bit longer. Secondly, welcome back T !!!!! Ahhhh!!! It's so mad to have you back. Aol is good? Ok then! They are actually really good about your download limit. The company I am with...I was on a plan where I only had 180 hours time a month but didn't and couldn't know when or how much I had gone over that limit....but I found out one month when I got a bill for--I kid you not--$200 for a friggin' month's internet. I'm now on an unlimited everything but man was I pissed off back then. You know what? I'm gonna be a crazy ass and go shopping on Christmas Eve. Also, with my new found knowledge of pram-pushers, I am armed with more patience! But also, it's the only time of year I love the crowds...everyone is rushing to do the same thing and it makes it more communal for me. All other times of the year, we are rushing for different reasons so yeah...basically what I am saying is that I wanna go out and suck some Christmas energy out of the air. I like your take on the Santa thing, T. My prob with the principal at that school was that he took it upon himself to tell the kids Santa isn't real and I don't think he had the right to. I am conflicted about Santa. My mother-in-law goes all out on the Santa thing with one of her 'kids' (as she calls them) at her work and puts a red boot out so that they think santa left it when he was climbing up the chimney. See, I can't see me doing that. Argh! I forgot Orlando was an Englishman! I got sideswiped mentally with images of Hugh Grant and I couldn't see past it. Oh my god the weather! Rain then hot then rain....when the bushfires were really bad, the electrical circuits at the railway just went crazy. I was stuck at Mortdale for two hours which I was annoyed at yeah but more annoying was the damn announcements of "just be a few more minutes now..." from the Cityrail staff. Jus came home late also when the bushfires started because the heat made the substation at Westmead explode so he had to wait ages for a train. It's amazing what extreme conditions can do to everything and it makes you see how much we rely on electricity. That is truly weird stuff V. I once got a film developed and it ended up being photos from my father's trip to america back in the 70s but never stuff years old before stuff totally new on the same film. That is really cool! ...speaking of photos, ever sicne I saw A's camera, I have been subconsciously drifting to the digital camera section in stores. I have no idea how they work or what the features all mean but I am sold!...hmm me thinks I am a door-to-door salesperson's dream. OMG! How cool would that be? A LOTR marathon!!! We must do that! I am free for the 29th if anyone is up for it! I'd love to see the Two Towers on opening day but that's the delayed Christmas I'm having with Justin's family so *sob* it has to wait another day....ooh! on a related note, I haven't got the extended DVD yet T! I am still so undecided on it. I know it's worth it cause as you say, chock-a-block in extras...I'm just undecided in whether I want the bookend one or just the dvds. The one with the bookends has the extended dvd version plus another dvd brought out by National Geographic...don't know if you know or remember but they did a special that was shown on the ABC where they basically did a doco on the film and centred it around New Zealand. I have heard it is heaps good. So yeah, you get bookends, the extended dvd version and the National Geo special on the film. One thing I do have of LOTR is the Playstation 2 game, The Two Towers. I don't play Playstation cause I'm not really into it and I suck at it but watching Jus play it is really cool. The actors from the film voice their characters in the game and it follows the first two films and at times it will cut to scenes from the films as you progress through. Very cool stuff. Jus is playing as Aragorn now but he can also play as Gimli or Legolas. I love that you're so into LOTR T. It reminds me of me with Moulin Rouge and Titanic. Both of those films, there were times that I watched it a few times a week at the cinema when they were out. I just loved watching it and how I felt as I watched them. Thank god for dvd cause I watch Moulin Rouge a lot and it would be very worn otherwise. Ah I waffled again!...I will blog later........later guys!!!! Love ya all!!!! ... Love B So a xmas party eh? Woah..memory lane here I am. So who is coming so far? I got your e-mails V. I can't come on the 19th, that one is for sure. I am ok for the 20th so far. Whatever is decided, please let me know by e-mail or whatever and I will definitely try and make it. I miss you guys. I feel a little detached from everything ever since I got back from Surfers. It's weird. I felt like I hit the ground running and it's been non-stop yet annoyingly if one asks what I have been up to, I am likely to say "nothing". Santa eh? Wayne was complaining just the other day about the price of the Santa at the Blacktown one. It apparently has gone up a lot but from the look of the equipment, it looks all digital now so maybe that's why. I love Santa. They got some good ones this year. The one at Parra is really friendly and waves to everyone who looks over to him....when I read that story about the principal telling his school that Santa does not exist, it made me so friggin' mad. What is happening here? It seems like Xmas is getting a little more buried every year. Sure we have the commercial side of it but what about the other stuff that has nothing to do with making money? I remember when there were carollers at the big tree at Martin Place in the city. Nowadays, people just walk by the tree and don't care anymore...and the people who put up the tree don't care as much either cause the ornaments are very lazy and unimaginative. I swear I'll cry if they get rid of Carols in the Domain and Carols by Candlelight. let 'em charge their crappy $4 for a can of coke...just keep the damn thing going! ...ooh there's an idea...no need to take it on or nothing but how about carols in the domain for a get-together? Here is a sidenote that has nothing to do with anything really...I was reading some mags and they all had interviews with Tobey Maguire in them and they had pictures from photo shoots with him and the guy does not smile. He just stares...he is king of the pensive look. Is this part of his schtick? or is he just not bothering to play up to the cameras cause he hates fame and everything to do with it?? These questions can be rhetorical...I am just gas-bagging to myself and out loud. Loved your 'wanna know Arvin?' section A ! Always interesting. I love your Friday Fives too...I would start one up but I can never think of cool questions. I had a D'oh moment this week. I signed up to this thing on the net where they pay you to look at ads and you give your profile so that companies can pick and choose who they see as people who would want to do business with them so of course I check most of the boxes so more companies would send stuff to me aka more money. Long story short, I got this girl in Melbourne constantly sending me prospectuses on Melbourne apartments ranging from 350 grand and up and I am too chicken and just plain lame to go "look I just wanted the money". The apartments are very nice though. And I know. I am a very bad person. I am loving the new Harry Potter film. I can't get enough of it. I loved the first one and just watched it over and over. It reminds me of the fun I had at that age. It sounds so stupid but I lived for school. It was my bright point. And I love Hermione. She sold me when she went on in the first film about how much she loves exams...right on! Again...my bad. I have not read the books yet and I hate that fact but will knuckle down. Have not been into book reading since John Grisham's "The Chamber"....it's been that long. I love books but can't seem to connect the love with the action. ...ooh movie sidenote....new crush. The guy who plays Tom Riddle in the film. Since when do the English breed good looking men? I always thought Jude Law was a one-off. But yeah..fan-friggin-tastic....ok I have been waffling....I will restrain and refrain in later blogs....I'll write off now and go to bed. So damn tired this week....write later...... Will we go to Westpoint? It is local to all of us. nd the chair is big enough for a few people. I am really excited about a photo with Santa this year. I just had a good idea.... we could have the photo done on the day of our Christmas gathering. That is if it will be in a place that Santa is as well. I was thinking the gathering could be in Blacktown anyway. Publishing is temporarily unavailable. Hopefully I can publish soon. At least I don't have to leave the area anytime soon. That is one of the good things about having yor own computer - you can stay on it as long as you like and not have to worry about someone deleting or reading something they shouldn't. What is Carol's street number? I hope you passed all your uni things A. And, B and T, I hope you passed all TAFE things. Thank you for the support about the dole thing. Oh, the mopst exciting thing has happened! MICHAEL HAS MADE THE STATE TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay, I should explain. For those who do not know (although I know I said it at the Blogger Picnic. Maybe you don't remember) Michael bowls and is really good at it. He bowls almost every Saturday again other teams in Sydney, as well as for the railways (all the people you can contact on 131500). The State Team is for the railways. To get onto the team, you need to be in the top 16 (12 or 14 bowl and the others are reserves). At the beginning of two days (of bowling) ago, he was 17th. Now he is 8th! So, we are going to Queensland next March so that he can represent NSW. If he didn’t make the NSW team, he might have made the SA team coz they never have enough people. He was so excited! This was on Sunday afternoon. He was exhausted, but got energy once he heard that he’d made the team. I am so happy for him! Sure, t means I get to go to Queensland next year. But, I am more happy that he made the team coz it means so much to him. Newcastle….. we got to Newcastle at about 7:30pm on Friday. We got dinner and went almost straight to bed. This is after he woke up at 4:30am, worked for 8hrs and drove to Newcastle. I woke up really early, and was walking around the streets at 5:30am. It was like what B was saying – it feels safe to be walking around at these hours in these places. Michael bowled 12 games. I was bored shitless some of the time. I was at the beach for a total of about 15 mins! Sob! Michael then drove back to Sydney for a presentation for his other bowling thingee. Back to Newcastle after that. About five hours sleep and we had to go back to the bowling place, where almost everyone was either tired, hungover, or both. Nine games were played, and then a presentation. Then Michael drove to Sydney again. By this time he was absolutely exhausted, yet waited til I finished at a meeting in Annandale, ending at 7:30 or so. Then we drove home. He had a 6am start the next day. Poor baby! This paragraph was meant to be, at the most, ten lines long, on the blogger page, noty where I am writing. Oh well. I shall now get back to Christmas cards….. Love V. :: posted by us friends 3:09 PM [+] Tuesday, December 03, 2002 Hello all, I am organising a Christmas party, like the ones we used to have at school (for those who went to them, ou know what they are like). It is open to anyone you want to invite. The more the merrier! I don't have a date yet. We are all pretty busy, so I wanted to ask you all to tell me when you are free and then we can go from there. I have the following dates available: December 14, 17-20, 22, 23. From Ness. :: posted by us friends 10:28 AM [+] Monday, December 02, 2002 Oh my god!!! ... I just wrote this whole blog and did my usual rant and then I click for it to be published and I get a runtime error and the whole thing was lost! So I'm gonna try and re-write what I said and hopefully the blog I wrote before doesn't pop up on the page in the future aka what I say is published twice. Arvin!!! Welcome back! So it's all over eh? Fingers crossed that you passed. So you join V and I on the job hunt eh? It's scary when I think about it. I mean, it's exciting but friggin' scary. To me, uni and TAFE is just another variation of school but the workforce, that's the real world to me. We're not training anymore, we are doing. I don't think the dole is a bad thing at all. I understand your feeling though V. It carries a really negative stigma but anyone who looks down on you for being on the dole doesn't deserve your respect or your time. The dole is just to help people take that first step. A few more steps along and you don't need the help anymore and then you never have to look back, just keep going forward. The dole is a beginning. haha I should do an ad....yeah there's an idea!....somewhere out there! Hire me!!!......ok but seriously, you're gonna be just fine. I'd love it if we job hunted together. It would take the edge off the stress of actually looking and oh man! Imagine if we all got jobs near each other? We could have lunch together and do the adult thing with the coffee! Ok I am running ahead of myself here. Tomorrow I start ebaying again. I am a bit nervous cause it's just the thought of dealing with all those people again but I will get over it. I am looking at accepting credit card payments so buyers can pay me instantly but am looking more into it. It sounds cool and lots of people are doing it but there is a lot to it so I want to read everything. Ebay is my income so being able to accept credit cards means more people will be more willing to buy from me. There is a group on ebay called Power Sellers. To be in this group you need to make at least 5000 a month and this is in US dollars mind you. Then you get all these rewards blah blah...like one of those elite clubs but without the initiation crap and fancy cigars. One student (!) in the US makes 10 000 a month on ebay by selling old toys...so yeah I don't have that kind of stuff. Agree! I am really glad it has been raining. I got caught in it a few times and was cold as hell but cause I had forgotten how it felt to be stuck in the rain, it felt great. Been doing some Xmas shopping. The crowds are unbelievable. Every woman with a pram becomes a snowplougher and runs everyone down. I went looking for a DVD box set and I see a sea of them...box sets for Robocop and Futurama...like what the hey? And my pet peeve is when I go out and buy a dvd of some flick and then a few months later, they re-release that dvd with all these other special features a la Pearl Harbor or Lord of the Rings or MIB. I am a lover of dvd special features so this unfortunately makes me a sucker also cause then I get stuck with two dvds of the same flick cause I go out and get the re-release. I planned not to succumb to the Lord of the Rings re-release extended version dvd and then I see the collector's edition with the Argonath bookends...dear god when will it stop!?...maybe if I wait long enough, there will be a support group for dvd special features addicts. I might write off. It is almost 2am on my end so bed seems pretty good right now. Sorry for the ramble. I'd love it if we could all get together for Xmas ... I don't have any ideas beyond the getting together but I can leave that part to you guys. Luv ya all...... Love B |
