.: My City :.
I am fortunate to live in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, which is located on Lake Ontario, and we have the opportuinity to be the city located
on Toronto's East side. As of January 2002, Mississauga was the sixth largest city in the Dominion of Canada, with a population of
624,000 people. According to the 2001 census, Mississauga is the 7th largest city but as of then they have issued only has 1,800 new
citizens were as Mississauga has had approx. 68,000 new citizens.
Mississauga is located in the Region of Peel, which consits of two other cities, Brampton and Caledon. Mississauga though accounts for 62% of
the total population of the region. We have an average income of $65,000 compared to that of $64,000 in the GTA, $60,000 in Ontario and
$55,000 in Canada. We are the positive and cheap alternative to living in Toronto. You can get a huge mansion in Mississauga for a price
signifficantly cheaper to that of Torontos. Also, transportation into Toronto from Mississauga is easy from Mississauga as we are home to about
4 or 5 major highways, including the QEW which runs from Niagra Falls to I think Cornwall, and the 401, which I believe runs past Barrie.
Mississauga is home to many important things. We are home to Leaster B. Pearson Airport, probably better known as Toronto Airport. This
is the busiest ariport in Canada and probably the most important one too, We are home to Square One Shoppig Centre which is the
largest mall in the Province of Ontario, surpassing the Eaton's Centre in Toronto with the new expasion of about 25 major brand name
store, which includes the first ever Tommy Hillfinger store in a mall. We are also home to the head office of IMAX corporation which has
sold countless amounts of IMAX units all over the world. The entire technology in the IMAX movie experience is entirely Canadian. Also,
Mississauga is also home to the company which designed both Canada Arms attached to the International Space Station as well as a few
other Canada Arms which can be attached to American space shuttles when unloading cargo such as new satelites and other space related cargo.
The new expansion to Square One. It includes at least 25 new major brand name shows, as well as a new movie theatre which is located in the
large round part of the picture. Square One has such stores as Sitiches, Wal-Mart, Sears, The Bay, Zellers, Bootlegger, Urban Behaviour, A Buck
or Two, The Disney Store, The Keg, Kelseys, The Sony Store, HMV, Music World, Tommy Hillfinger, Old Navy, The Gap, Gap Kids, Gap Baby. Also
located nearby is the busiest Playdium (Sega City) in Canada, beating out the largest Playdium located in Toronto.
This movie theatre is located just across the street from Square One (see above). It was originally located in Square One until it moved about
5 years ago, to this much larger location, which includes an IMAX cinema as well as about 15 screens. This is the location where me and my
friends always meet to watch movies together. It is mainly due to geographical convience because it's in the center of Mississauga and people
are coming in from all over Mississauga so ya, it's a good location to meet. Also, the Mississauga Transit main terminal is located just a
short walk away so it's easy to get to by bus as well.
Here in the photo are two major attractions in Mississauga. The long glass building on the right side is the Mississauga Living Art's Centre.
It hosts many plays every year. It has two major theatres in it as well as education rooms where such things as drama, potery, and other
artistic classes meet to learn more about specific subjects. Children camps are also hosted here too during the summer for young children and
youth. The other building in the picture is the Mississauga City Hall. This picture isn't a great view of the City Hall as it doesn't show the
extensive architecture and great crout on hte front of the building. The clock tower is a magnificant piece of work as it doesn't follow the
regular design of a clock tower in which the main section is solid.
