When the plane landed at St. Petersburg Airport in Russia several hours later, they found a limo waiting for them. It took Justin, JC, Joey, and Chris directly to the hotel, but Lance had to go to the launch site first to check in with his crew.
“Alright, I’m here,” he said, entering the command tower.
“Good, good,” responded one of the people in charge of making sure all went well during lift off. “Now that the whole crew is here and have checked in, I want everyone to go home, get a good night’s sleep, spend tomorrow doing last minute preparations, go to bed early, and be here promptly at 7:30 the next morning.”
“Got it!” said the crew together.
Lance got back in the limo and took off to the hotel.
“Back so soon?” Justin asked as Lance entered the room.
“Yeah, we just had to check in. Nothing serious. I’m supposed to get a goon night’s sleep tonight and go to bed early tomorrow.”
“Are you supposed to do anything during the day tomorrow?” Chris asked.
“I’m supposed to spend it making last minute preparations, but as far as I know, I have no last minute preparations I need to make. I’m all set, but I guess I better do it just to be sure. You guys are welcome to go sightseeing if you want. Don’t worry about me, I have plenty to keep me busy while you’re gone, I still have to pace for the flight. So go out and have fun, I don’t care. I’ve already gotten to explore the country myself.”
“Are you sure?” Joey asked.
“Positive! I’ll be fine, don’t worry. I’m gonna take a shower and go to bed. I have a busy day tomorrow and I want to get everything I need to do, done in time to go to bed early.”
“Okay!” said the other four as he went into his bathroom and shut the door. Each member had their own bed and bath because they were in a luxury suite.
Lance emerged from the shower about twenty minutes later and picked up his duffel bag which was sitting by the bed. He pulled out his pajamas and put them on. Then he grabbed his toothbrush, went back in his bathroom, and started brushing his teeth. Finally, he climbed into bed and was about to shut off his light when JC entered the room. He sat down on the edge of the bed.
“I forgot to tell you,” he said, “This letter came for you in the mail yesterday.” He handed Lance an envelope.
“No return address? That’s weird,” Lance said taking the letter from him. “I wonder what it’s about.”
“Open it.”
“Okay.” He ripped open the envelope and pulled out the crisply folded paper inside. He scanned it, and then handed it to JC with an odd expression on his face.
“What is it?” JC asked, taking the piece of paper Lance handed to him.
“Read,” Lance said sternly. JC read the letter out loud.
“LANCE,
DO NOT GO TO SPACE! IF YOU DO, YOU WILL NEVER COME BACK. I FOUND OUT JASON IS STOWING AWAY ON THE SHIP. HIS GOAL IS TO KILL YOU. LAUGH IF YOU WANT BUT I’M SERIOUS. I KNOW JASON IS REAL. I SURVIVED MY OWN ENCOUNTER WITH HIM, BUT I GOT SERIOUSLY HURT. PLEASE, DON’T GO TO OUTER SPACE.
SINCERELY,
KR
“KR? Who the heck is KR?” JC asked when he finished reading.
“I think it could be someone’s initials,” lance said, “Someone who knows us.”
“Let’s see, who do we know with the initials KR?”
“What about Kevin Richardson from BSB?” came Joey’s voice from the doorway. ‘He has the initials KR. Why are you trying to think of someone who has the initials KR?”
“Because, whoever it is, sent Lance this letter, telling him not to go to space. It says Jason is real and he will be stowing away on the ship. It says Jason’s goal is to kill Lance.”
“How strange.”
“Hey look! There’s something on this letter I didn’t notice before!” Lance suddenly shouted.
“What’s it say?” asked JC.
“It says ‘P.S. IF YOU WISH TO KNOW WHO I AM, CALL THIS NUMBER: (772) 893-4421’.”
“Well, what are you waiting for? Call,” said Joey.
“Okay, here it goes!” He took out his cell phone and dialed the number. “I can’t help thinking this number sounds familiar. It’s ringing!”
“Hello?” a voice answered. It was definitely a male.
“Um, hi,” said Lance, “I’m Lance Bass and I’m calling in regard to a letter I received. It had no return address on it and was merely signed with the initials ‘KR’. It told me to call this number if I wished to know who wrote it.”
“Ah, I’ve been expecting your call. Listen Lance, I’m serious about this; I didn’t believe Jason was real until I had my own experience with him. Boy that was scary. I’m glad I got out of there alive. You might not be so lucky though, especially since you’ll be in space and out there, no one can hear you scream. If I were you, I’d find someone to take my spot and quick! If I were you, I’d say forget about living my dream, my life is more important. You’ll give that space mission up if you know what’s best for you.”
“But if Jason’s goal is to kill me, wouldn’t he come after me whether I go to space or not?”
“Hmmm, good point. In that case, I’d say go to space and hope you live. It’s better to get though an encounter with Jason if you know it will happen, than to hide and have an even lesser chance of surviving when he finds you.”
“Are you sure?”
“Positive!”
“Thanks. Who are you anyway?”
“No problemo! Think about it Lance, who do you know with the initials ‘KR’?”
“Kevin, time to leave for our photo shoot!” Lance heard someone shout in the background.
“Coming! Listen Lance, I gotta go. If you want to keep talking, call me on my cell phone at (772) 237-9898.”
“Okay, you can expect that call.” He hung up and dialed the number he had just been given.
“Well?” asked JC, looking at him with anxiousness.
“I think it is him,” Lance said, waiting for someone to answer.
“Lance?” said the man’s voice a moment later.
“Yeah, it’s me. I think I know who you are, but why would Jason attack you?”
“Because, I’m so perfect, it makes him sick. I’m a nightmare to him and he wants to get rid of me. I think he thinks he’ll rest better with me gone.”
“If you got away, wouldn’t he come after you again?”
“Oh, he will, he just wants to try his luck with someone else first. You and I are not the only ones he’s after, he wants to kill Ashley too.”
“Why?”
“His goal is to rid all the most popular pop groups of their perfect angel because to him, we are bad people.”
“Perfect angel? No one’s perfect.”
“I know that but he doesn’t. He wants to get rid of you from Nsync, Ashley from O-town, and me from BSB. Listen, I have to go now, okay?”
“Okay, by Kevin.”
“Bye. Oh and Lance?”
“Yeah?”
“Please, do be careful.”
“I will, bye.” He hung up the phone.
“Well?” asked Joey, “What did he say?”
“He said that I’m not the only one Jason’s after. He’s after him and Ashley too.”
“Why?” JC asked.
“He said that Jason wants to get rid of the perfect angel in each of Nsync, BSB, and O-town. That means me, Kevin, and Ashley. He says Jason thinks we’re bad people because according to him, we’re ‘Perfect Angels’.”
“Geez, that’s harsh,” said Joey.
“Yeah, I know. Well, I’m gonna go to bed now. Goodnight you guys.”
“Goodnight,” Joey and JC said together. They left the room. Lance turned off the light and feel asleep.
