The large group of them were sitting at a long table at the Olive Garden eating and talking when older Justin received a phone call. He answered and his face began twisting excitedly.
”Yes sir! That would be great! We’d all love to go…yes, I’ll tell them…okay…thank you sir…you too…bye.”
”What is it Justin?” asked Adam, one of Lance’s sons.
”Yeah, what is it?” said Dallas, Adam’s twin brother.
“Guess what? Our agent just got us all vacation time in Europe! We leave in two weeks,” he responded with a smile.
”Oh wow!” they all said.
”That great daddy. Achoo!” Chance had been well enough to come along, which was good because they didn’t want to leave him behind.
”Save your strength son. Remember I want you to get better, not worse.”
”Okay daddy.”
”Where are we going daddy?” asked a little voice from older JC’s right. It was his four year old daughter Desiree. “Are we going bye-bye?”
”Yes sweetheart,” he said, lifting her on to his lap. “We’re gonna go bye-bye in two weeks. Remember when you were two and we took an airplane up to New York?”
”Yes, I remember.”
”Well, we’re going on a plane again, except this time, we’re going to another country.”
”Yeah, and this time, you’re gonna fall out the window! Ha, ha, ha!”
”Alexander Scott Chasez, don’t you talk to your sister like that!” shouted JC’s wife. “Apologize, now!”
”Sorry twerp.”
”Alex?!” said JC. “Say it like you mean it.”
”Sorry Desi.”
”That’s better,” his mother said firmly.
”Hey dad?” asked Trevor, Chris’s son, “Are you gonna show me and Skylit that spot in London you told us about?”
”Yeah, sure, if you want me to.”
”Oh yeah, we do,” said Skylit, “It sounds ultra cool.”
”Now there’s a brother and sister that get along,” JC said, looking at his son.
”Yeah well, their ages are closer together. On top of that, she’s a tomboy. She likes all the same things he does. Of course they get along,” said Alex.
”That doesn’t make a difference,” said Skylit. “Just because my brother and I like a lot of the same things and get along well doesn’t mean we don’t fight. Right Trevor?”
”Right,” he said.
”But you two are twins, you’re the same age. Desi’s only four. I’m nine.”
”So? What difference does it make? That just means you have the responsibility of protecting her as well as getting along with and being nice to her.”
”Oh please! I can’t believe I’m getting advice from eight year olds!”
”Is that an insult?” Trevor and Skylit asked together.
”Yeah, it is.”
”Well that’s the last time we try to give you advice,” said Skylit angrily. “Next time you need advice, ask your mom and dad, don’t come to us. We won’t help you, not after you insulted us. Just because we’re eight, doesn’t mean anything. Children mature at different rates, right dad?”
”That’s right. Alex, just because you’re nine and they’re only eight, it doesn’t mean that you know more than they do. I teach my children utmost respect and I know you dad teaches you that too.”
”Hmph! I don’t have to listen to that junk, it’s just a bunch of no good rubbish. It doesn’t mean anything. If you two are bothering using it, you’re wasting your time!”
”Alex that is the last draw young man!” shouted JC. “You are grounded for two weeks, no exceptions! That means no video games, no TV, no phone, no going out with friends, and no radio for two weeks! Oh yeah! Your mother and I are going out to the movies with the other guys and their wives tomorrow night. Joey’s daughter is going to be in charge of all you younger kids. I want you to listen to her this time Alex. If you don’t, you’ll be grounded longer. If you do, maybe I’ll take off a week. The keyword here being maybe. Got it?”
”Yes sir. I promise I won’t cause any trouble tomorrow. I’ll be on my best behavior,” he said sarcastically.
”Don’t use sarcasm with me young man! I mean it! You have better be well behaved. I will be asking for a full report on you behavior. I expect it to be a good report!” He turned to the other adults, “All these kids and I’m the only one with a trouble maker. Sometimes, I wish Alex was like your kids.”
”Don’t worry JC, we’ll help keep an eye on him,” said Dallas. “Won’t we Adam?”
”Sure.”
”I’ll help too,” said Chloe, “After all I am the second oldest. Nothing to worry about JC, Brianna, Dallas, Adam, and I will keep a close watch on him.”
“Thank you Chloe. You two too.”
”You’re welcome,” all three of them said.
When everybody had finished eating and the bill had been paid, they all went back to the Nsync mansion to hang out and watch a fourth of July parade on TV. Well, except Alex, he was sent directly to his room.
