“Whoa man, check it out!” Justin said as he got out of the car. “This place looks pretty creepy. Who’s brave enough to go in?”
“Justin! Are you crazy?!” said JC. “We can’t go in there. It’s dirty and I’m wearing white today!”
“You’re always wearing white,” said Chris. “I’m in J.”
“Me too,” said Lance.
“Count me in,” said Joey.”
“Well JC,” Justin said, “I guess we’re leaving you here all by yourself. Try not to get too lonely. See ya.”
“Wait! I’m coming too. You think I’m just gonna let you guys go in there without me? Uh-uh, I’m going with you. Besides, what if something should happen to you guys while you’re in there? I don’t want to be the only Nsyncer left. If something happens to one of us, something happens to all of us. Let’s go.”
They climbed the old rickety stairs to the door, or what was left of it. Half the door had been broken off in age and it was hanging off its hinges. The windows were broken and the shutters were lying on the porch.
As they entered the old house a rusty smell hit their noses.
“Ugh! What died in here?” Justin said, holding his nose and waving his hand back and forth.
“Anybody have a flashlight?” Joey asked from somewhere to the right of Justin.
“I do!” came Chris’s voice from behind him. He pulled a flashlight out of his pocket and turned it on.
They were standing in a large entrance hall with what used to be a marble staircase in front of them. There was a door next to the staircase which most likely led down to the basement. All five of them, having the same thought, began slowly walking towards the door. A broken chandelier hung overhead in the middle of the room.
When they reach the door, Justin slowly turned the knob. The door creaked open.
“Squeak!” a bat flew out of the darkness. It flew over Lance’s head, narrowly missing him.
“Ahhh! What was that?!” Lance shouted.
“A bat,” responded Chris, shining his flashlight on it. “It must’ve flown out when Justin opened the door.”
“Come on,” said Justin, “Let’s go.” They all started slowly descending the stairs. Each step creaked as they touched it. “Chris, hand me the flashlight.” Chris handed Justin his flashlight.
When they reached the bottom of the stairs, Justin shined the flashlight around the room. The light suddenly shined on a large object in the far corner of the room. Curious, Justin started slowly walking towards it. Not wanting to lose their band mate, the rest of the guys followed.
They approached the machine with caution. Justin blew some dust off a key pad and screen of some kind.
“What is it?” asked JC.
“I don’t know,” said Justin, “But there’s one way to find out. Sit in the seats on the machine. I’ll join you in a second.” The guys sat down in the dusty seats (JC dusted off his first), and buckled the belts attached to them. Justin sat down in what seemed to be the driver’s seat. He turned a key and the machine sprang to life.
“Enter month,” a voice came out of the speaker above Justin’s head. He typed in July. “Enter day.” He typed fourth. “Enter year.” He typed 2015.
“What does it want you to do that for?” Joey asked.
“I don’t know but we’ll soon find out,” fore the voice had just instructed him to press the enter key. As soon as he did a blue light covered them. With a loud cracking noise, the guys and the machine vanished.
