North Shore High School Key Club
Since our new District Governor Karen DeMaria officially ended District Convention, North Shore High School Key Club has been working hard to make this the best Key Club year yet. With our new presidents, Ashley Kim and Kristina Chen, the year has gotten off to a great start, with scores of hours of community service performed already.
On April 22nd, Key Clubbers helped out at the Kiwanis Pancake breakfast, preparing food, bussing tables, and taking orders for more than 20 collective hours. Working with our local Kiwanis organization, our entire community enjoyed a great pancake breakfast. A week or so later, Key Clubbers provided a courtesy food stand at our schools Lacrosse Day, raising hundreds of dollars by selling modestly-priced food. That same morning, dozens of members met in the school cafeteria to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the bike ride the following day, breaking our record time for making them. Only a few days later, Wednesday the 2nd, members met up at the Nassau Country Club to sell tickets and carry baskets at a fashion show fundraiser for Saint Christopher Ottilie.
North Shore has even more in store for the coming months. Our members continue to volunteer on a regular basis for tutoring independently or at Saint Christopher Ottilie, helping out at a local Senior Citizens home, and working for local animal shelters. We are planning to help out at fairs and benefits in the coming weeks, and are already working on long term projects for the coming months. Our new Single Service project, reading to children in our community, is taking off, and we intend to start over the summer. We also are planning to decorate pillowcases to brighten up hospitals for children. Each year our members and officers work hard to improve our community, and our impact is seen throughout the community every single day.
