"Four months, two weeks, and three days and Helen still hasn’t gotten me back. Maybe she forgot." Jason muttered to himself. Joel who was sitting beside him decided to make a comment.
"I seriously doubt it, she’s a lot smarter than you are."
Jason made a face at Joel. He looked over at David who was engrossed in his homework from Zechs. He was looking over the plans for his Gundam, preparing to write a report.
"Is homework all you ever do?" Jason asked, disgusted.
"No," replied David. "Once in a while I watch documentaries on TV." Joel and Jason both sweatdropped.
"Great news guys!" Indigo barged in.
"Hey, this is guy time, you know without the girls. What are you doing here?" Joel demanded.
"Noin told me to deliver some news to you guys!" Indigo replied cheerfully, trying to ignore Joel’s comment.
"So, what is it?" Jason urged.
"We get to go on our first mission soon!" She cried. Jason’s face brightened. "And there’s more," Indigo continued. "They’re having a big formal bash with dancing and music and everything! Just for us, to celebrate!"
Jason’s smile broadened even more. "That is too cool. When is it?"
"Next week, so you’d better get shopping for an outfit. I don’t think they’ll let you in without a tux or something."
"Why not?" Jason whined, "It’s our party."
Indigo shrugged. "I have no idea, but that’s what Noin said." She turned around and left the boys again to go join the girls in the next room.
Jasmine was still processing the idea of a formal party. She had never been to one before. Helen was already pondering how she was going to get Jason back. It should be at the party, the perfect time. Indigo was trying to decide what her dress should look like.
"Maybe green," Indigo thought out loud. "I’ve always looked good in green." She continued muttering to herself until Sally barged in. "Come on Jazz," She smiled. "We’ve got things to do. Your Father is already furious that I’m taking so long."
Jasmine immediately gathered up her things and followed her mother out of the room.
"See ya later girls," She called as she left.
"Bye Jazz," They echoed.
Jasmine joined her Father and brother in the hallway.
"Shopping, BAH! INJUSTICE!" Wufei cried. "You had better appreciate this!" He cried.
"Yes Father, I already do. I know it would ruin your already horrible reputation to be seen at a mall." Jasmine smirked sweetly. Her Father just stood there stunned for a moment.
"I don’t have a bad reputation, do I?" He whined to Sally. Sally just shifted nervously and began to whistle.
Duo greeted his daughter with a big hug. "Come on sweetheart," He said. "Your Mother’s waiting in the car. We’d hurry up. The poor girl is stuck sitting next to Relina in her pink limo."
Helen snickered and followed her Father. They were going to the most expensive stores on the colony to find something to wear to the party next week. Helen was disappointed to see that Jason, Relina and Heero were all already in the car.
"I won’t have to sit next to HIM, will I Dad?" Helen asked. Duo looked at her and smiled. "Of course not, you might kill him. And Relina already stated that she didn’t want any blood in her gay limo this time." Duo smirked.
"This time?" Helen asked.
"It’s a long story," Duo explained. "I’ll show you the stain when we get in there."
Helen agreed and flopped into the limo, sitting a fair distance away from Jason, but just close enough to make him nervous.
The other kids were also dragged away to malls to shop. They were supposed to be in training, but none of them cared. Well, except maybe David, but his Mother insisted.
The next day and for the next week, all any of the teens could talk about was the party.
"I’ve never had a party thrown by someone else for ME." Jasmine said. "Or at least never one this fancy." Jasmine cooed.
"I hate formal get-ups." Joel snorted. "My adoptive Mother used to drag me to them all the time. I had to get dressed up and act like a doormat for the entire evening!"
Jason laughed. "I wouldn’t mind seeing some of these lovely ladies here all dressed up." He chuckled. He received a glare from Helen and shrank back. Jasmine just smirked evilly and Indigo blushed.
"I used to go to fancy things too," David said, getting into the conversation. "But I didn’t really do much but sample the food. I would find my friend Alexis and we would ditch them and do something else."
"Something else hun?" Jason grinned. "Like what?" He started making kissy faces at David.
"Oh, knock it off Jason! We were just friends!" David screamed.
"Sure," Jason snorted.
"Well I don’t care how boring formal getups are, I’m going to look like knock-out, just you wait and see." Jasmine smiled.
"I’m so excited," Indigo squealed. "The party is tomorrow! I can’t wait!"
Helen nodded in agreement. "This is going to be fun," She said while casting an evil look in Jason’s direction. Jason gulped. ‘I am so not dancing with her.’ He thought to himself.
"One hour and thirteen minutes!" Indigo cried as she barged into Helen’s room. Indigo was already fully dressed.
"Need some help with your make-up Helen?" Indigo called into the bathroom where Helen was trying to get her earrings on.
"Not yet," Helen replied as she came out of the bathroom still struggling with her earring backing.
Indigo let out a low whistle. "Wow, Helen. You look fab-u-lous!" Indigo sang. She snapped her fingers to every syllable to the word ‘fabulous’.
Helen giggled. Her hair was not in her usual loose braid. It was twisted around and piled on top of her head with little curly wisps hanging down around her ears. Her dress color matched her hair exactly. It was dark blue and long with spaghetti straps. Real diamonds decorated the straps and top seams. Diamonds were also splashed around the bottom of the dress, which spun around Helen’s legs as she walked. She sported a pair of 24 karat gold earrings with a single sparkling diamond in the center and she had a matching shawl to top it all off. Her shoes were pumps the same color as her hair and dress but were decorated with sequins that made them sparkle about six or seven different colors.
"OK help me out here with the make-up, I have no idea how to put this stuff on." Helen laughed. Indigo smiled and nodded. She motioned for Helen to sit on the bed next to her so she could apply the make-up. She put on dark watery blue eyeliner; blue and silver eye shadow and light pink gloss on Helen’s lips. She also evened out her skin tone with some cover-up and gave her a tiny touch of pink blush.
"Wow," Indigo said again. "I am amazed at my own handy work." Indigo laughed.
"Well you don’t look that bad yourself." Helen replied. She looked over Indigo closely. If she didn’t know Indigo’s voice like the back of her hand, she would have sworn it was a different girl. Her dress was black and simple, but stunning. It was tight at the top but the bottom flared out a little and bunched up into little waves. Her sandals were also very simple and black with at least a three-inch heel. Indigo’s hair, which was usually tied in pigtails, was loose and curled. It was in tiny waves and the waves gave her hair volume. She was wearing contacts instead of her glasses. They were colored and made her eyes look an even deeper shade of green. She wore a pair of eye-catching big silver earrings. They were a simple triangle shape but had several little feather-like silver strings hanging from them.
"Mind if I use your bathroom, Helen?" Indigo asked. "I need to do my make-up."
"Not at all," Helen said. Indigo smiled and disappeared into Helen’s bathroom. Suddenly there was a knock at Helen’s door.
"Come in if you’re female, if you’re male go away." Helen said to the person on the other side of the door. The door opened confidently and in walked a Jasmine. She was a knockout, just like she promised. She looked like the devil in a red dress. She probably WAS the devil in a red dress.
"You look lovely Helen," Jasmine smiled.
Helen just continued to gawk at Jasmine. Her bright, flaming red dress was tight all the way down with a long slit all the way to about mid-thigh so she could walk. It was amazingly bold and bright, made of sparkly, slinky material. It was in a halter-top style at the top and the halter strap wrapped around her neck and looked like a choker. She had a red mesh shawl to go with it and bright red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet feather earrings. She had wrap-around sandals on her feet that had heels at least four inches tall. She had bright red eye shadow that paled and faded to a silvery-white color near her eyebrows, which were almost missing from being plucked. Her lipstick was also bright red and her face was pale with pale pink blush to give her cheeks some color. Her nails were painted as well, they were obviously fake, perfectly manicured nails with red polish to go with the rest of her bright red outfit. Her hair was also piled on her head, but it was all held together with red Chinese hair combs and other red accessories.
"Wow…" Was all Helen could say. She would have never thought to wear such a bold and stunning outfit like the one Jasmine had on. In the red outfit her bright blue eyes seemed slightly out of place, but they added to her rebellious look.
When Indigo came out of the bathroom she nearly dropped all her make-up when she saw Jasmine.
"Wow…" She said with her mouth hanging open. Jasmine laughed mischievously.
"Jasmine you look great!" Indigo cried. She ran up to Jasmine to get a better look. "Turn around so I can see you." Indigo said. Jasmine happily spun around like she was a model, revealing the dangerously low-cut back to her dress.
"Your Dad is going to freak when he sees that dress!" Indigo laughed.
"I know," Replied Jasmine with a chuckle, "That’s part of the reason why I got it." Indigo, Helen and Jasmine sat and talked for a while before they had to leave for the party. During that time, Indigo was so nervous she had to go to the bathroom about four times.
"We have ten minutes before the party starts, we should leave soon," Jasmine announced, looking at her fragile gold watch. Helen nodded. "Come on Indigo," She called. Indigo was in the bathroom touching up her make-up.
"Coming!" Indigo cried as she dashed out of the bathroom.
Together the three girls walked confidently to the ballroom. They walked in ten minutes after the party started, which was perfect timing according to Jasmine. They walked into the room and scanned it. The ballroom was breathtaking. It had a high dome ceiling with a strange painting of angels in the sky on it. Near the walls were many golden colored spiral pillars. To their right was a small stage where a live orchestra played some sort of classical music. Caterers walked around the room in funny tuxedoes and served champagne and crab puffs. People mingled around in fancy outfits. The lights were dim and a few people were already dancing. Helen scanned the room for three people: her parents, and Jason. She saw Jason with the other guys near the other side of the room, it wouldn’t be too hard to avoid him, or so she thought. But to her despair, her parents were unknowingly about three feet from Jason. Helen decided to wait until they moved to go see them. But it was too late; her Father spotted her and motioned for her to come over. Helen groaned. ‘Maybe I can sneak past him,’ Helen thought hopefully. She made her way to her parents and flashed them a big smile.
‘Please don’t see me. Please don’t see me.’ Helen chanted in her mind.
"Hey Helen!" Jason smirked. "Lookin’ good." Jason grinned. Helen glared at him. He wasn’t expecting anything; this would be a perfect time to get him. He walked right past him, holding her nose up high.
"Hi daddy!" She smiled. She gave him a big hug. "Him Mom," She said she hugged her Mother as well.
"Don’t you look nice." Her Mother put on a sarcastic sad face. "My baby’s all grown up," She sniffled, "And I missed it, tear." She pretended to wipe away an imaginary tear from her eye.
"HAHA," Helen laughed, joining in her sarcastic tone. "Nice bow tie, Dad," Helen said as she saw an enormous red polka-dotted bow tie around her Father’s neck.
"I know," Duo smirked. "I’ve already had a few comments on it."
"None of them were good," Hilde whispered into her daughter’s ear. Helen laughed whole-heartedly.
"At least you look nice, right mom?"
"That’s right," Smiled Hilde. She pushed around her black ballroom gown, letting it twirl around her.
"That’s OK, Hon," Duo said as he wrapped his arm around Hilde’s shoulders. "You can look good for the both of us." He gave her a quick kiss on the cheek and Hilde beamed and gave him a big bear hug.
Helen smiled and spotted the other girls. She made her way back over to them.
"Where were you?" Jasmine asked.
"I went to say hi to my parents." Helen replied.
"Come on," Jasmine ordered. "Let’s go do something fun." Indigo and Helen immediately agreed. The wandered around and mingled for a while before getting tired and sitting down.
"I think I’m going to go maul a waiter for a crab puff," Indigo said suddenly. "I’ll go with you," Jasmine said. "I’m starving."
"Coming Helen?" Indigo asked.
"No thanks guys, I think I need to sit right now, besides I’m not that hungry and I don’t like crab."
Jasmine shrugged. "Suit yourself." She said as she walked away with Indigo close behind. Helen sat and rotated her ankles to stretch out her aching muscles.
"Hey Helen," An all too familiar voice said. Helen looked up and saw her worst nightmare, Jason.
"Care to dance?" Jason asked as he held out his hand to her. He had already promised himself that he wouldn’t dance with her, but she just looked so damn hot!
Helen smirked evilly. "I’d love to," She replied.
Jason looked slightly surprised, but he took her hand anyway and pulled her onto the dance floor.
From the other side of the room Duo saw Jason and Helen go onto the dance floor. He nudged Hilde and pointed at the two.
"She’s going to do it," He whispered to his wife. Hilde smiled and nodded; she stood up oh her toes so she could see over the heads of the many people there.
"So do you know how to dance?" Jason asked her as he placed his hand on her waist.
"Of course I do," Helen said mischievously. She wrapped her arms around Jason and pulled herself closer to him. Jason didn’t seem to have his father’s instincts about traps. He just grinned and held her tighter.
All of a sudden Helen kneed Jason right in the groin. Jason wheeled over in pain and Helen punched him in the stomach and then in the face.
"That’s for kissing me!" She cried. She grabbed Jason’s shirt and pulled him back up to her eye level.
"And this," She said, "This is just for fun."
Jason closed his eyes and prepared himself for another blow. But instead of the nasty punch he was expecting, he felt soft, warm lips meet his own. Jason forced himself to stand up and return her kiss. He nervously flung his arms around her. He felt Helen’s death grip on his shirt loosen and her hands let go of him completely. She gently pushed him away. Jason looked at her with obvious confusion.
"You’re a very good kisser," She explained. She let go of him and walked away. Jason, no longer having anyone to lean on, stumbled around for a minute before regaining his balance.
Duo started to laugh. "That’s my girl!" He cried. Hilde giggled along with him. Relina and Heero stood at the other end of the room; they had also seen the incident with Helen. Relina felt bad for her son but it was funny anyway.
Joel and David laughed hysterically at Jason.
"Smooth, Yuy. Very smooth!" Joel cried. Jason glared at him and stormed off.
It was nearly three in the morning. Helen pulled her hair out headed for her bathroom. She needed a shower to get out all the hairspray. She quickly climbed into the shower and turned on the water, letting it run down her back.
"Man it feels good to be clean," She thought out loud to herself. She let her thoughts take her back to a few hours before. She smiled as she remembered the look on Jason’s face when she kneed him right where it hurts! Then she wondered what was going through his head when she kissed him. She still couldn’t believe she had done that! But it was all worth it. She had humiliated him in front of all the Preventors stationed at the headquarters. Not to mention caused him a nice amount of pain. Helen rubbed her head and rinsed out the shampoo. She turned off the water and got back out of the shower. She took a moment to wring out her hair and then wrapped a towel around her body. She started to rummage around in her drawers for her PJ’s.
"Aha! Here they are!" She cried, holding her PJ’s up triumphantly. She quickly changed into them, switched off the lights and crawled into her bed. She was looking forward to her mission and to seeing Jason’s face in the morning…
"Get up! Time to get up you lazy children!" Noin called as she had done for nearly the past five months. One by one the teens groaned and came out of their rooms. It had been a late night for them and they still had to get up at five. Together the six teens headed to the cafeteria, still following their usual routine. Jason grabbed Helen and pulled her into another hallway, away from the group.
"What was all that about?" He whispered harshly. He tried to keep his voice down, but he was still fairly loud.
"Whatever to you mean?" Helen asked sweetly.
"You know," Jason hissed. "Last night with the punch and then the kiss…" His voice trailed off but he was still focusing on his eye contact. He was trying to intimidate her, and Helen could tell.
"Now, now Jason," Helen smirked. "You can’t tell me you didn’t like it." She reached her hand up and started to stroke his ear.
"STOP IT!" Jason cried. He sounded almost disgusted, but Helen couldn’t tell if it was with her or with himself. Helen giggled evilly.
"I got you back, now we’re even." Helen smirked. She pushed past Jason and went to catch up with the others at the cafeteria. Jason growled and lingered far behind her.
