Last of the Blind Guardian videos I swear. Just like the early days when I
couldn't stop using Metallica,
I wouldn't want to
keep using one band. I have listened to this song hundreds of times and
am now sick of it, so you'll have to tell me if I've failed or not in
doing it epicy justice.
One year anniversary!
Since the site re-opened I've made 13 new music videos, that calls for a
celebratory clean up.
There, I amputated the sagging backside of this blog and put it in an
archive. ANNDD... I removed the multiplayer recommendatory listings that
took me about a month to compile because they broke the site and I don't
have space for them.
Don't say I don't know how to party...
...there really needs
to be some comics or something here, this website is so pointless. :S
See? I am still here. I've working on that ginormous video that follows
the story of The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy. Planned it almost a
year ago but was too scared to even start it. It's Blind Guardian again,
and not everyone appreciates their stuff, so sorry if you were waiting
for something else.
It's been four years to the month since my last Sonic video was made, an
event worthy of a new word: forgetrance n, to forget a shitty
experience and or person. I tried remaking it at one point, it was the only project I've ever
scrapped half way through. That was February 2005 just before the site
went offline. YouTube has mullered this one in terms of picture quality,
however that is no longer a problem!
Yes, all my videos can now be downloaded from
MEGAUPLOAD, just click a link
on the videos page, enter the three security digits in the top right
hand corner and hit 'download'. No registration required, it's mega!
The first new E3 has just been and gone, not much
difference for those watching at home since we can't wander the show
floor anyway. I obviously watched the Nintendo conference which was a
bit of a let down actually, as well as the Microsoft one.
Highlights for me were the new
Wii Zapper,
Medal of
Honor: Heroes 2 to support the gun and have 32 players online and
Nitrobike by
Ubisoft, hopefully filling that multiplayer/online void left by Excite
Truck.
A few cool things happened in MMO space,
Jumpgate Evolution was
announced, a face lifted old space based MMO with the prospect of being
like EvE but without the boring.
I found what could possibly be the best F2P (free to play) fantasy
MMORPG ever made in
Perfect World, it's still being translated for western audiences but
you can see some videos of what to expect
here.
It's only because Arcade Racers are such a dying breed these days that a
game like this drifted under the scope.
Yes, it was clearly rushed out the door for launch, and yes the
multiplayer is an absolute shambles. But the solo player alone is so
much fun, I would officially recommend it to anyone who likes either
speed, offroading, ramps, road rage, or just unique innovative controls
that WORK.
EXCITE TRUCK IS MORE FUN THAN BURNOUT there
I said it, and I am a big Burnout fan. If only they had bothered to work
on the multiplayer, it would have been phenomenal. And you just know a
game like this wont get a sequel unless it sells in seven figure
numbers.
I bought
Sonic Rejects
Collection the other day, pretty much just for Sonic CD. It's rather
short, and there's too many obstacles and crap in the way when you're
trying to run fast. But then it's high production value classic Sonic,
and who can put a price on that?
More importantly though, I blagged the beautiful animation scenes from
the intro and end game. Now with them and my overpriced movie DVD I can
finally make a rad Sonic tribute video.
Another video, back to VGMVs again. Feels so good knowing you have
little to contend with when translating an idea. That's why I love doing
the niche videos, anyone who's remotely interested will love it. HAUW
HAUW
pretend I didn't say that.
PRESENTS!
Always best bought for yourself with other peoples money.
Check out all the shit I've been buying recently, sorry about the sucky
photo. If you're really clever, you can try to identify each item.
Some things were returned, some things are being
sold on. Like that Sonic the Hedgehog Movie DVD, 27 fucking quids that
set me back,
and I only need it to make one video. There's 2 Master System converters
for the Mega Drive there, because I imported one (boxed) from Australia so as
not to get ripped off. Turns out it needed hefty insuring and postage of
course, totaling at just 5 bob behind the official model, which I then
decided to order anyway before getting the word 'Retard' tattooed across
my face.
The DS Lite is an Enamel Navy Import from China. It's so
awesome to be playing DS games again, especially now with Worms Open
Warfare 2 on the way. I finally got a copy of Alex Kidd in Miracle World
'Die Mega Cartridge' it's a German version, but at least I saved £10!!
There was also a scart (RGB) lead for my Mega Drive and a SNES mouse so
I can finally play Mario Paint again.
No Wii games!? I was going to buy Excite Truck and Sonic and the Secret
Rings, but decided to try at least one out first since they share
similar control schemes. So I borrowed Excite Truck from my brother and
it is SOOO AWESOME. Definitely be buying that after I've had a 2 player
with someone.
Why didn't I get an XBOX 360? because it's still not worth my
investment yet. I keep hearing about how Gears of War is better than
Halo 2, and it probably is. Thing is I'm not really a FPS nut, and there
have been literally hundreds in the past decade. Also Live Arcade is
something I don't really need. Q4 '07 will be my time,
when the next GTA, Burnout and Halo are released.
In the MMO realm... Maple Story has officially
driven me nuts now, with its stupid emo haircuts and anime facial
expressions. So I tried some more free to play MMORPGS, including
Flyff again. On closer
inspection this game does a much better job of feeding the addiction.
Yes, it makes you squirm with disgust when playing it, but its still
pretty well made. WASD controls and platforming collision, a decent
frame rate and easy to use interface. I'll probably just use it to fly
around on a broomstick healing people, like a gay Jesus.
I also found a game called
Voyage Century Online to be a real shocker, for a free game it has
so much depth. It still suffers from most of the things which put me off
Pirates of the Burning Sea, but you can do so much more and wont have to
pay a penny! It's a great afk game too when you want to do something
else, you just leave yourself chopping wood, or fishing off the coast,
or tending your market stall, really relaxing. If you're looking for a
good sailing or economical MMO, definitely look it up.
I added both games to the about page, and removed
Twilight War. A recent
series of updates have
confirmed the worst, give an awesome project to Asians and they will
almost certainly shit all over it and try to sell it back to you.
On a positive note
(for me) my Mad Max
tribute video has now reached 125,000 views and 867 favourited it.
Just goes to show you how important it is to match the right song.
GLOAT GLOAT GLOAT GLOAT GLOAT GLOAT GLOAT GLOAT GLOAT
GLOAT GLOAT GLOAT GLOAT GLOAT GLOAT GLOAT GLOAT
GLOAT GLOAT GLOAT GLOAT GLOAT GLOAT GLOAT
I do, they're wicked.
I've been busy buying loadsa stuff lately with birthday money, mostly
for the 'Hyper Arcade' but also a new DS Lite and some games.
Getting Terminator 3 on DVD meant that this video could be finally made,
and when 300 comes out a similar thing will happen. Except that 'thing'
will be about nine hundred BILLION TIMES MORE AWESOME.
Planets will implode from its sheer magnitude, and the users of YouTube
will build me a thrown fashioned from the dismembered limbs of their
loved ones.
You may like it, you may not. It was more of a regurgitated idea from
about four years ago. I hope Viacom don't find it as they seem to like
pulling videos from YouTube and ruining everybodies fun. And they like,
own Paramount and stuff.
Indie animators blow my mind, whether it's Flash or whatever. The time
and dedication they put into
intense solo projects like this one just astounds me.
One day, I would like to kidnap one and chain them in the basement to
work for me.
Jims
half-assed preview of Pirates of the Burning Sea
Wednesday, April 11th 2007
They let me into beta finally last week, so far I haven't really been
too captivated. It seems like a solid enough game but it just gets
boring too quickly for an MMO. It could be due to lack of players, it
being beta and all, but my own personal reasons are...
- Everything combat orientated is instanced (zoned)
You can't engage anyone 'live' in what they call the open sea, which is
the big sailing area in the first shot used to travel to different ports
and such. If you start a fight, or get started on, there will first be a
chase where you have a chance to escape conflict if you so choose. When
the fight starts you are transported to an isolated area with just you,
your allies/group members (if you have any) and the enemy(s) until the
fight ends and you are either returned to the open sea or to the closest
town.
The same thing happens with missions, they mostly seem to be about
destroying or capturing ships but can be activated simply by speaking to
the same dock master guy who lets you leave town. Once the mission is
over you are teleported back again. Foot missions also seem to work this
way.
- The fighting is another battle of numbers
This depends whether or not you can put up with this kind of thing.
There is a little more skill involved since you have to use the wind
direction and your targets need to be kept within either of the two
firing arcs. (those aiming triangles from image 2) Also the health of
your crew regenerates quickly in combat, whereas your ship has 4 sides
of armour (front, back, port & starboard) which need to be worn down and
attacked accordingly to deal the punishing blows. There are stat mod
attacks which focus on sails, crew, etc, these are healed with
instantaneous potion-like items such as food and wood.
The ship combat looks and feels good/right, but it leaves you feeling
kind of detached, like you're just watching the ship and pressing
buttons rather than actually commanding your crew in an intensive
situation.
If you can imagine a WoW duel, only a lot slower and more drawn out with
less options, you're pretty close.
As for ground combat, if you imagine playing a rogue class complete with
rage/energy-esque bar and even less options, then you're pretty much
there. There's also no armour for avatar fights, just a sword of some
kind and an off-hand weapon like a gun with one shot in it. There's a
handful of styles you can choose like Fence, Florentine (dual wield) and
Dirty, but I can't see them differencing that much noticeably.
Like I said though, it looks solid enough to be fun for anyone that
obsessed with pirates. The customization is great in that you pick all
the colours for the many different clothe & hair variations as well as
your ship and its sails. You even get a ship 'garage' called the dry
dock where you can store any extra ships you have. You get to pick one
of four factions Britain, France, Spain or Pirate, and one of four
professions Officer, Privateer, Free Trader or Pirate (only used by
Pirate faction). There's a crafting system I haven't really looked into
yet, which seems to be the base economy of the game by use of auction
houses.
For me though, PotBS just seems to lack the freedom I'd expect from
being a pirate. When you're at sea, you feel like you're cut off from
the land, and when you're on land, you feel like you're cut off from the
sea. Like it's right there, but it's a whole other zone and you're just
looking at a graphic representation. Same with battles, same with
buildings, same with everything. It wouldn't be so bad only the open sea
is such an empty baron place, and the land is strictly the towns you
dock in not letting you explore the islands at all.
Also the fact that everyone is a captain, and you can't be a crew member
on a friends ship is a massive downer.
I'll keep playing though, just to see if it picks up. I haven't tried
PvP yet, apparently there are contested combat zones for tens of players
to fight for their factions. You can also capture ports in the name of
your nation by taking out the patrol and guard ships (I'm assuming) but
I don't know what effect or what significance that is meant to have
other than making you look good in the war records.
Other than that, the game is basically about getting missions, doing
those missions, gaining ranks (levels) and more gold to buy better ships
and equipment.
It's definitely worth trying out if you want something different, but to
me it's just another number race and not likely something I would spend
money on each month.
I was still in a
Zelda mood and had the cartridge laying there idly, that's all. Consider
it a 4 year anniversary video.
After making this though I hope not to hear that file select screen
music again for a long long time.
As for the game
itself, it was great, but not one of my favourites, mainly due to the
shortness and the frustrations that come with the whole groundhog day
feel. It did however let me live out my fantasy of becoming a Zora,
swimming and diving across the bay like a dolphin. I rank it 5th after
Ocarina of Time then Twilight Princess then A Link to the Past then The
Wind Waker.
Hey
Wednesday, February 28th 2007
This isn't really an
update, it's just to show the site isn't dead already because I haven't
posted in over two months.
Honestly I've mainly been playing Planetside since the new year started
and I joined a new outfit.
I've also been workin' on me sketches a lot more and have gotten fairly
good now. Soon there might actually be something in that comics section
at last.
As for videos, I
still need to buy certain games and/or DVDs before making what I've got
planned, of which I'm really excited about starting.
The Donkey Kong video
was removed from YouTube due to copyright bollocks from
Viacom International Inc. Shame, I loved that
video, you'll have to use Google now if you want to see it.
I don't know if you follow
SWGEMU or not, but recently they
had two stress tests reaching 278 and then 452 clients online in one
area. I wasn't a part of it but it's great to hear the project is really
gaining momentum now. If you miss pre-combat upgrade/NGE Star Wars
Galaxies, then you should definitely visit their site and keep informed.
Did I say wehey? cause I meant 'URGHH GOD MY FINGERS!'
They have perfectionist rot from so much tooth combing, so you can
forget what I said before about making two. The second song wouldn't
have worked anyway, the tempo was too fast.
So that's it until next year. Now that I've conquered Zelda and
exploited it, I'm taking a well earned break. So merry Christmas and all
that bollocks...
Cya!
Zelda
rules once again
Saturday, December 16th 2006
Just finished the
game today, and what a game!
Best, longest and by far the most intricate Zelda ever, without a doubt.
Seriously it is THAT good, buy it and you will not be disappointed no
matter which platform it's for.
Anyway I taped all
the good parts throughout the entire game, so I got about 7 hours of
footage to work with now.
Probably way way too much, so perhaps there'll be 2 music videos.
Stay tuned...
About
friggin time!

There's nothing worse
than something you've been waiting patiently for missing its Friday
delivery and making you wait those extra 3 painful days and not have it
for the weekend. The whole experience loses a little bit of its magic.
Especially when you know people that are enjoying it already, people who
pre-ordered from Woolworths for fuck sake. And then God kicks you when
you're down with a damn head cold, as if
the setting for some feel good Christmas TV special..
But still, things
could be worse, my heart truly goes out to those who can't get one until
next year, because
this
thing
FUCKING
ROCKS!!!
If
you like to play video games with friends, get the Wii, PERIOD.
That's all I have to say really, both Wii Sports and Wii Play are
totally awesome party pieces. And then you've got Wario Ware and Mario
Party still on the way.
Hardcore Nintendophiles will all have one by now anyway, and if you do,
then you'll know how much everyone has bugged you to play on it.
Best of all, it actually feels like something new, a feeling I
haven't had since firing up Super Mario 64 for the first time.
Look at it, doesn't it look happy, surrounded by its friends and family.
Like the pearl in an otherwise crowded oyster.
I still have yet to
start Zelda, so if I appear to
have gone missing, this is what I'll be doing:
The next video you see appear in this space will be the most awesomest
Twilight Princess tribute on the face of the earth. Mainly because so
far they've all been made with trailers, bwahaha!
I have a poster of
him on my wall. If anyone could turn me furry-sexual, it would be him.
Enjoy this video I
made of Star Fox Assault, that game rocks. It may not have as many
levels as Star Fox 64, but the features they incorporated into the game
are awesome. Riding on someone's wing firing a plasma cannon? If only
they had made the game much deeper and added more options to the multiplayer,
Nintendo would have its very own Halo.
Guess what comes out
here next Friday...
It begins with 'W' and ends in 'ii'
Got my pre-order confirmed, better get things done before Zelda arrives
or I've had it.
Perhaps time for one more video, it will most likely be the new Matrix
Tribute since it's the only other project I have the means to complete
right now.
So glad that's over with.
Not that I regret making it, it's just if I hear the words 'Jungle
Boogie' one more time I'm going to scream like a little girl.
Thinking about
uploading the missing 7 videos to my YouTube channel, the ones which
have already been submitted by other users. Nothing against them, they
have acknowledged credit to be paid elsewhere, it's just it would be
nice to have a complete portfolio, even if most of the comments and
praise still go to the other versions.
I also found a couple of people 'stealing' my work, or rather
uploading and claiming creatorship.
It's quite flattering actually, but I wish they wouldn't insult me by calling me
a liar and/or thief.
Two more weeks until
us Brits get our grubby little mitts on the Wii.
Two more weeks until the Zelda marathon starts so I can create the
greatest music video OF ALL TIME!
...or not, we'll see.
Happy
Wii day you American bastards
Sunday, November 19th 2006
Gah, 3 more weeks, 3
more weeks...
Perhaps I should freeze myself.
One of these days I'm
just going to migrate to the states cause being a gamer in Europe
SSSSSSUCKZZZZZZZZ!!
A
hope? A chance...
Thursday, November 16th 2006
Come on SWGemu! You
can do it!
I'm having trouble
getting footage from DK64, It keeps coming out all juddery. Perhaps
something to do with it being an expansion pack required game. Ah well,
I'll keep trying, the video shouldn't take long anyway.
YouTube doesn't seem
to like this one, I've tried uploading it like 10 times with different
settings but it keeps coming out blocky as shit even with a bit rate of
3Mbps. Well anyway, check it out on Google, and then buy the box set, and tell Shinichiro
I sent ya.
I got a letter today
saying that £375 is waiting for me in a childrens bonus bond. The bonus
is that if I wait until June 28th 2007 I'll get an extra £2.60. As
tempting as that is, I think I'd rather cash it now and buy a Nintendo
Wii at launch.
Speaking of Wii, did
you hear that Excite Truck is going to feature custom soundtracks? How
awesome is that? Now if they could just not delay it here in
Europe until fucking February that would be fab.
The
Maple bug has me, urgh
Sunday, November 5th 2006
God damn Maple Story
and it's god damn addictive nature. Since I started playing a few days
ago, I haven't got anything done. No videos, no art, just... can't...
stop... leveling... magician...
Still it has
only been a few days, and the levels are now getting harder to
raise. And if I suddenly decide that I don't want to play anymore in the
next few days, then guess what, it's done its job perfectly. There'll be
no subscriptions to cancel, no purchased time going to waste, and I can
just jump back in for a few hours whenever I want in the future.
I play on Broa by the way, my character is a Magician going Cleric
called JimLad800 if you feel like looking me up. The game has also been
added to 'about' page.
There was a video I
missed off that list from a few weeks back.
It was a Lord of the Rings video, something which may not happen for
quite a while due to its complexity. To do this amazing trilogy of
movies justice in one music video, the song is most likely going to be
something about 10-15 minutes long, which narrows down my options
considerably. Getting the footage should be pretty simple aside from my
hard drive exploding from disk space needed. Editing something
that long though, will be a bitch of a job. Then there's the problem of
it will be too big to be uploaded to YouTube or Google, so it will have
to be hosted on my non-existent web space. Hopefully though, it will be
fantastic, the stuff that legends are made of.
Speaking of Legends
and hard-to-make videos, I hear that The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight
Princess is going to be an absolute mountain of a game to finish at
aprox 50+ hours game time. That's fantastic for Nintendo, and its Wii
launch and the fans. Not so fantastic for me as it means making a decent
music video will be absolute hell given the game would have to be run
through once before recording the second time, running through the whole
thing again. Also, the fact that I still don't have the money to buy
both the game and system yet looms ever darker as December approaches.
That's all, I'll try
to avoid Canadian nerd bait for a while so the next video can be made:
Donkey Kong 64 bay-bee!
Oh, and happy Guy
Fawkes to all you British terrorist burners out there.
There's
a tag board, drop in and say hello! --->
Wednesday, November 1st 2006
It's been a while
since I've had any kind of chat function on my websites as they tend to
get spammed up by angsty teens. Well we'll see how this one goes, if you
have something to say, be my guest, I'm pretty much un-offendable.
Also, who's been
watching the second series of Prison Break? This show is so fuggen
brilliant, It's like wall to wall suspense, seriously. Every episode
puts you on the edge of your seat. The whole thing is like one giant
movie.
Watch a few of these and you'll forget Lost ever existed, trust me.
Scratching
the MMORPG itch
Wednesday, November 1st 2006
Due to supreme lack
of funds I haven't been able to play Planetside for several months now.
This is dangerous territory for anyone who has played MMOs before, as it
leads to those gradual withdrawal symptoms such as getting a life or
actually being compassionate to your fellow man.
In that phase of
desperation, you're not left with many decent options as far as
persistent online worlds are concerned. There are of course hundreds of
free MMORPGs out there for those like myself at the very end of prides
tether. Granted, about 80% of them are made in Korea for people who
would literally kill for a shot at being top of a very
finger-blistered pile of teenagers.
It is an option none
the less, one which I am sad to have resorted to.
I tried 3 games which seemed to stand out slightly further than the
other members of the clone army, Flyff, Space Cowboy and Maple Story.
Flyff only had one thing going for it, the flying. Its tag line is 'Fly
for Fun' which may very well be the case, but I'll never know because I
didn't really fancy going through 20 levels before getting there.
Logging in to a crowded town center with about 200 people who look the
same, (under the gear) spamming incomprehensible trade acronyms non-stop
was all it took to put me off.
Get away from that and it's the same old shallow level ladder
auto-whacking of mobs.
Space Cowboy actually
seemed to have a lot of potential, but unfortunately it was put out
there by the same guys that did Flyff. It reminds me a lot of Auto
Assault, great idea but SHALLOW SHALLOW SHALLOW! Once the novelty wears
off, you'll wonder why you ever got excited.
Maple Story I used to
play in beta for a while. It is purely grind/gear focused like pretty
much all freebees. Its unique feature is that it's a side scrolling
platformer with cartoonish animation.
However, in spite of what it is I have actually taken a shine to it, for
four reasons...
1) It's not trying to be something it's not. Whenever you play a 3D F2P
it always feels like trash after playing something like WoW or
Everquest. Maple Story actually has identity and doesn't make you feel
like a lower peg gamer. The element of platforming gives it an edge over
most other MMORPGs.
2) You wont feel so much like a worthless sardine. It's quite a mystery
actually, you're all PvEers fighting mobs for levels and gear, but
somehow you feel like you actually have presence in this game. Maybe
it's because the game is 2D that you are constantly passing other
players on their screens as well as yours. Also, it uses server
channels, and the areas have plenty of places to ascend or descend to.
This means the players are a lot more spread out, not all crowded round
one trading spot.
3) It's a nice place
to be. This is very important in MMORPGs I've come to realise.
The nicer looking the game world is, the more you'll want to go there.
This was something which Blizzard absolutely nailed.
4) The interface is a
lot more simple and direct. No outdated 'click to move here' horseshit.
It's just arrow keys to move, a key to attack, a key to jump, a key to
pick up loot and some hotkeys. No auto-attack either, which is a very
welcome change. It makes you feel like you're actually playing a game
rather than just 'choosing' what you want to die.
MMORPG addiction is a
phenomenon which has eluded me for many a year. Why do we feel the urge
to come back to a play style we already know is totally futile? The
enjoyment of these level grinders is not in the the end achievement, but
rather the planning that goes into getting there. The space we occupy in
these virtual worlds, and the influence we can radiate from just logging
in. It's the need to be a part of something which keeps us coming back,
the avatars we can create, or the escape from real life.
Once the desire has faded though, playing seems to become chore.
Especially with subscribed titles, we feel it's our duty to keep going
to get our moneys worth.
The 'itch' I've found, tends to be a temporary thing. It can be quelled
just by playing a free MMO with no level cap for a few weeks. Once
enough of your personally set objectives have been met, the magic wears
off but you are still free to come visit and show off your hard work
whenever you choose.
I found Maple Story perfect for this, as it gives you all the right
addict ingredients listed above.
Games based on subscription have a tendency to put a twist on the whole
thing and give you a subconscious feeling of commitment which will keep
you playing longer than you actually want to.
Of course this
doesn't apply to everyone, but you may want to try it if the cravings
ever start getting to you. All I know is it will probably be a while
before I feel the need to spend money on World of Warcraft again.
New
video
Saturday, October 28th 2006
Well,
it's a remake actually. Super Smash Bros
Melee - Rancid - Maxwell Murder
It's
a lot more crazy than the Foo Fighters one, not a very long video but it
still has a fair bit of editing invested in it. Give it a whirl and see
what you think.
For some reason, Google keeps screwing up the timing on me vids. It's
not that bad, but still annoying enough when you've worked hard to get
it spot on. I recommend the YouTube version as usual.
For
the Sonic Tribute remake, I'm thinking of having 2 videos. One for 3D
sonic games and one for 2D.
New
South Park and Drawn Together as well this week. Did you see them?
I actually preferred the the SP episode over DT this time. 'The Three
Murderers' sketch was just too funny.
Drawn Together 3-04 was still good, just not offensive enough for my
liking.
In
other news: Drawing is a pain in the arse.
You have on-days and then off-days, and then start to question what
you're doing or how you're doing it.
I think I'm just gonna ease off and let it come when it's ready. Not
that you care, you'll probably hate it anyway. ;)
Lik-Sang out of
business thanks to you-know-who...
Unbelievable...
I never thought I could have any less respect for Sony then I already
did, but boy did they prove me wrong.
It's such a shame that London High Court would let this happen, now
because of one companies selfishness, no one gets anything.
I'm really going to
miss all the impossible to find peripherals they provided.
Wow, my first
update
Monday, October 23rd 2006
So I
thought I'd give anyone reading this a little insight into what's
coming.
First, the obvious
one... videos.
I said I had a few ideas, and boy crikey this ol' sea dog keeps his
word. A few of them are re-makes, which will be a let down for anyone
that's seen the originals already, but chances are you haven't because
they suck. This is everything I'm planning to make or have in mind, in
no particular order...
Remakes
Super Smash Bros Melee - Rancid - Maxwell Murder
Sonic Tribute - Crush 40 - Open Your Heart
Tom Cruise/Vin Diesel Tribute - Limp Bizkit - Livin' it Up
Steven Segal Tribute - Kid Rock - American Badass
Newbies (The songs aren't listed just incase someone decides to
pinch the idea) Donkey Kong 64
Diddy Kong Racing
Rampage: Total Destruction/Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee
The Ultimate Tribute to Car Chases
Burnout 3: Takedown
Flatout 2
Altered Beast/Gunstar Heroes/Kid Chameleon/Golden Axe
Jet Li Tribute
The Matrix Tribute 2
Cowboy Bebop AMV
Star Fox Assault
Body Harvest
The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess
Of course, all of
that is subject to change, although knowing me it now most likely wont.
Some of them require extra things such as more DVDs or third person
help, this will dictate the order in which they are made.
Retro Farm is still
coming. Yesterday I finally made and settled for a first episode. I know
that sounds bad on my part, but I have actually made 28 trial episodes,
and 7 of those were supposed to be 'the first episode'.
So where is it? I hear you ask...
Well something I learned from other webcomics was to have a fairly
decent number of strips before the thing actually goes live, and that's
exactly what I plan to do.
I touched up the site
a bit more, slightly altering the commentaries for my videos so the
crazy wank I wrote 3+ years ago is a little more sane.
I took some pictures of me hyper arcade today and added the feature to
the 'About' page. It also has a bit about my gaming background if you're
interested.
Oh yeah, there was
supposed to be some off-topicy stuff here too right?
Well ok, let's talk about 2 of the greatest TV shows ever and their new
series airing right now.
First, South Park. There has been 3 new episodes so far for season 10,
you've probably heard about the World of Warcraft one from somebody. It
was pretty awesome with help from Blizzard. Some of it was inside jokes
but for the most part it's just good old exaggerated scenarios. The
voices the boys took on near the end should have you in stitches if
you've ever used Team Speak with a bunch of flat brained dorks.
The second episode rips on 911 conspiracy theories and was pretty daft.
You'll still like it if you don't try and look at SP with an uptight
mind and intelligent eye.
The third was classic Cartman coolness. Based on the
teacher-sucking-off-student-story of Debra Lafave, with a parody of
Dog the Bounty
Hunter. A great episode to watch this one, and that song...
Also,
Drawn Together is back for its third series and is fucking awesome.
The offensiveness is still there, but I can see it slowly taking on a
Family Guy type twist. One parody of the movie Greece, one parody of the
movie Terminator, and one parody of the movie Rocky... sorta. They're
all brilliant, but the one based on The Terminator is the best by miles.
Yeah, that's
enough...
I'll probably yack on about them some more at the end of each week until
they're finished.
So I'll let ya go
now, peace be wiv ye.
ARRRRRR!!!!!
8BM Studios is no
more, welcome to Arr-JimLad.com
Thursday, October 19th 2006
Yo
mateys!
Welcome back, and if you were never here before then welcome anyways.
For those who don't know, 8BM Studios (or 8bm.co.uk) was a website used
to host music videos created by myself under the name Zé Mole. It went
offline June 2005. Basically I had stopped making videos since December
2004 and eventually didn't have the money to keep paying for the web
space needed. Only recently, have I discovered the joys of
YouTube and
Google Video
and the limitless free video hosting they provide. So that's pretty much that, I uploaded all the
best stuff, registered and re-registered the domains, and Bobs ya
grandma...
Arr-JimLad was resurrected from my very first website back in 2001
arr-jimlad.s5.com a much more personalized venture.
It's still carrying on from 8BM Studios with all the old music videos
still intact. However I've started directing again so you can probably expect more
varied kinds of fan videos in the near future, I already have a
few ideas.
As you can see I'm still using Microsoft FrontPage to make websites
because I know absolutely jack shit about HTML and such.
But I couldn't just come back with the same old website, oh no no. I
needed something else to try and claw back some attention with.
Well since January 2006 I've been brushing up on drawing skills and
learning to use Photoshop for a gaming comic called
Retro Farm.
The only problem was I didn't know which direction to take it. Should it
be random events, or a continuing story? Should it be black and white,
coloured, or coloured and shaded? What style should the art work be?
What will keep me making it? What will keep people reading it? How often
should I aim to update it? This was all pretty important given how many
gaming web comics are already out there.
Well to be honest I'm still not sure what to do with it, which is why I
have added the 'Comics' section. There's no set strip right now so it'll
just be a place for my 'experiments' once I round up the stuff.
Mainly it's a means of
exercising my hobby to draw, which I may still suck at but everyone's
got to be crap at some point right?
I'm also adding a
blog to the home page so there's something to read. It's sort of going
to include update news as well as some gaming finds, thoughts, and
opinions.
The 'About' page
has had a facelift too. It's been tidied up now and also has a feature
on Massively Multiplayer Online Games.
Soon I'm gonna upload pictures of my mighty console setup, which I call
the Hyper Arcade. Just a bit more insight to fit the profile.
Apologies for any
Angelfire ads you may encounter, the site is on a free host for now.
I'll eventually get some proper hosting to keep the pages clean.
Well that's you up to
speed, I'm not promising anything spectacular but we'll see where things
go. :)
