| If you're organising an
event to set goals, solve problems, celebrate success or
launch a product, then you want that event to inspire your
people, have them talking about it afterwards and energised
to achieve their goals. Maybe you're organising a gathering
to present dry or complex information and your people really
need to 'get' it? Terry Williams hosts such events, grabbing
attention before and between your business presentations
so your people listen, retaining your key messages and information.
He doesn't just introduce speakers and thank the caterers
for bringing a plate. He adds value, influencing the state
of your audience with a series of fun interactivities to
optimise the environment for you and your speakers.
Terry has a degree in history and a post-graduate degree
in management, but his trade is as a trainer. His view is
that the techniques of training and learning are the most
useful management skills. On the comedy side,he finds it
all the more powerful if a funny story can weave some learning
within the entertainment.
- Member of the National Speakers Association

800+ people

call centre of the year award 2001 and 2003

including Paul Ego, Jeremy Corbett, Mike King, Michele A'Court,
Brendhan Lovegrove, Mike Loder, Jeremy Elwood
Terry's not just a comedian who entertains
business people. As Manager Customer Relationships for an
organisation of over eight hundred people, He's proven he
understands business. As a comedian, he creates sophisticated
and relevant comedy for corporate crowds and performs it
with empathy. Often used as a motivational writer or speaker,
he's strongly differentiated himself with thinking comedy.
Or, if you wish to be witty and charming yourself but your
lack of wit and charm (or time) is balanced only by a large
discretionary income, you could hire him to be witty and
charming on your behalf. He already ghost-writes humourous
articles for professional journals, presentations for conferences
and speeches for events. (He'd mention names but they also
pay for discretion.) You'd be surprised. He's even had a
chapter published in a book in Norway but you probably already
knew that.
He thoroughly researches your organisation,
industry or topic. He uses interactive training techniques,
humour and storytelling to present his findings and key
points, in person and / or in print. Terry often uses his
own customer service operation as a case study. He delivers
a stimulating balance of sound content, real-world experiences
and a re-energised audience. Or if you just want a stand-up
comedian, he does that too. You're the customer!
Terry's gained skills as a comedian that
he's found beneficial in the real world outside comedy.
These include communication skills, rapport building, self-confidence
and quick thinking. Now he helps people in business learn
from his serious comedy experiences without even having
to get on stage.
He was born the year Sergeant Pepper was
released by the Beatles and he appreciates that album a
whole lot more now than he did then. A South Island lad
working his way up the country, he's sold building supplies,
driven forklifts, sold insurance, played National League
Basketball, developed business analysis models, married,
trained retailers, managed call centres, had two kids, worked
with politicians and managed tourism operations. Staff,
budgets, change projects, outsourcing - these things he's
dealt with. On special occasions he does zip into the nearest
phonebox and become Super-Presenter. (Vulnerable only to
kryptonite and the high cost of parking at, or near, most
inner city conference venues.)
As well as his management and life experience,
he has oodles of comedic credentials:
- Produced and performed in several Fringe
and New Zealand International Comedy Festival shows including
The Stand-Up Show with Mike Loder in 2002 and 2003, The
NZ Comedy Dogs in 2002 and 2003, A Loving Husband And Devoted
Father Of Two in 2003, 360 Degrees and Killer Comedy in
2004, and Stand-Up For Orewa in 2005.
- Opened Nelson Arts Festival September 2004 with a sell-out
crowd
- Performed over 350 live comedy gigs in Australia and New
Zealand since 2001, including many at The Classic, New Zealand's
premier home of live comedy.

Probably the best synopsis of Terry's style
for those potential clients who may be reticent of trusting
a comedian with their business event was from Roseta Jacobs
of the Auckland University Centre For Professional Development
who did trust Terry and referred to him as, "...very
professional, respectful yet still hilariously funny." |
