Mixing an almost techno beat with choppy guitars and growling vocals, Static-X has their own sound that they refer to as "evil disco." I first encountered this band at Ozzfest '99 and saw them for a second time at the 9:30 club with Fear Factory. Both shows were great, with lead singer Wayne Static actively participating with the crowd between each song. Their debut album "Wisconsin Death Trip" is more of an abstract work, and does a better job setting a mood than telling a story, which I generally prefer anyway. I recently saw the video for "Push It" on MTV which means the band is finally starting to get the recognition they deserve.
