Hailing from Las Vegas, Nevada, the Crystal Method was the first musical act that really got me into electronic music, (which is now probably my favorite genre). Their debut album Vegas is very well done. Every single track is powerful, and the album as a whole is successful on many planes. Each song generally starts off in a calm, soothing manner, but by the mid-point, your adrenaline is going and you're ready to get up and dance. That's what I love about it. You can listen to it no matter how you're feeling, and it will amplify your mood. If you're happy, it will make you happier. If you're angry, it will make you angrier. But no matter how you're feeling, the album instills a kind of hope in you, so you generally come off feeling pretty good if not a little numb. Since there are few words, it seems like every song is about whatever it is you happen to be thinking about at that very moment, so it all comes off as very personal. If there is one bad thing to be said about the album however, it is the fact that it really, really makes you want to do acid, but I guess that's the trademark of good techno.
