In Loving Memory

Havenbrooks Encores Blue Legacy

"Legs" was exactly what we had been waiting on, the kind of horse some breeders wait a lifetime to produce.

When he was born there was no doubt he was a keeper! He had boldness and presence that caught your attention immediately, from his beautiful color, extreme "Dandy" action, and intelligent blue eyes, he commanded attention.

"Legs was shown on a very limited basis. At his first show he won his class. His second show, "The July Classic" in New York, he received two 2nds in a large class of more seasoned Halter colts.

The AMHA Eastern Regionals he and his brother "Irish Cream" won "Reserve Grand Produce of Dam".

We attended the AMHR Nationals and the morning after he arrived home at the trainers, he fell ill. He was treated by their Equine Practitioner throughout the weekend and suddenly crashed on Monday morning after having shown improvement.

Upon the vets advice, they rushed him to Ohio State Veterinary Hospital, sadly he died in route.

Upon necropsy no etiology was found that could explain the cause of death. All reports and tests upon completion were still unable to provide a cause, we will never know for sure the reason he passed on, I guess God needed a very special friend for a little Angel up there.

I will never forget you "Legs", you were my dream come true. I miss you little buddy, you will remain forever in my heart.

The Legacy

All animal lovers believe in a magical place
Where their loyal companions go at the end of life's race
A land of green meadows, warm sunshine, and gentle rains
Where the animals frolic happily with no fear or pain
They all know that someday they will be reunited again
With the humans who cherished them, according to life's plan
They must of needed a bright new friend today
So they called you home suddenly, no time for delay
Perhaps you were never meant to be here
Your high spirited nature and boldness so clear
I named you "Legacy" for you invoked such dreams and big plans!
It is only now I realize your much higher purpose and truly understand
Go on my love, gallop swiftly away
I know you await our reunion someday
The wisdom within these bright eyes, so profound
I am certain you will show the timid and fearful the way to the sound
Of the animals playing upon the plains and the ridge
Which overlook the road that leads to Rainbow Bridge
