Brandi gave a weak smile, “The doctors say he will be fine.”
“That’s good.” Brian said
Megan went and gave Brandi a hug, “Nick told us, congratulations.” Megan whispered
“Thank you.” Brandi answered. They all stood there in silence for several seconds, “I heard about Stephanie.” Brandi’s voice started to waver. “How did this all happen?” she asked the silent group in front of her
Brian shook his head, “I don’t know.”

Megan entered the dorm room and looked around. She smiled softly, the memories were still vivid. Stephanie’s things were all in place where she had left them. She smiled as she passed the computer and glanced at the sticky note on the screen, ‘Note to self –DO LAUNDERY’ she walked into the bedroom and dropped her bags. She sighed and told herself she wasn’t going to cry, then she caught sight of another sticky note that Stephanie had left on the window above their beds, ‘UNPACK NOW’ Megan laughed as the tears slid down her cheek. “Alright.” She said to the empty room as she began to unpack her bags. After her bags were unpacked, she took all her dirty laundry, smiling as she walked past the sticky note on the computer, and headed down to the laundry mat at the end of the block.

Brian and Nick were silent on the way back to Brian’s house. They had just dropped Megan off at the airport and it had been an emotional goodbye. “When are we leaving?” Nick asked referring to the trip to Dallas for the funeral.
“Tomorrow night.” Brian answered

Laura walked into the apartment and hit the button on the message machine. Their were several hang ups and then Brian’s voice, “Hey Laura, it’s Brian. Umm, I haven’t been able to get a hold of Kev at the hotel. There was an accident….and Stephanie’s gone. The funeral is Thursday, in Dallas. If you could just have Kevin call me, Id appreciate it. Thanks.”
Laura turned around and looked at Kevin, who had stopped at the doorway, “You haven’t told them yet?”
“No, I talked to Brian the other day just before we left. I guess I will call Brian.”

Megan walked back into her dorm and stopped short. Jared was sprawled on the couch watching TV. “What are you doing in here?”
“Watching TV.” Jared mumbled
Megan shut the door and walked into the bedroom and dropped the laundry, “Now, how did Steph get him to leave?” she asked the empty room. She smiled and walked out of the bedroom, “Jared, if you don’t get off my couch you will have to help me fold laundry, and it’s almost time for Opera.”
Jared looked up at her, “Sorry Meg, only works for certain people, but I’ll leave.” Megan sighed as he got up and headed towards the door.
“Thanks.”
“No problem.”
Megan was on the verge of tears again, but the phone rang.
