A Reputation for Excellence

Ralph Turnbull has been creating knives of consistently high quality since 1973. His blades are in high demand from discriminating buyers all over the world. The list of collectors and purveyors of Turnbull Knives is a listing of Who's Who in the knife world. Swiss collector Eric Meyer bought over thirty Turnbull creations and has literally thousands of knives in his collection. What knife does he choose to carry in his pocket? A small Turnbull caterpillar folder! Tom Clinton, well known collector and purveyor of Randall knives, likewise carries and uses a Turnbull folder. By the way, what pocket knife do you suppose Pete Hamilton, Randall's shop foreman, carries? Yes...a Turnbull folder!

World Wide Award Winning Craftsmanship

A Turnbull knife has won at least one Best in Show Award in each of the past ten consecutive years. These awards cover almost all aspects of knifemaking. Many awards were for folding knives, the most significant being at Jim Parker's "Greatest Knife Show on Earth" in Knoxville, TN. Other major awards were earned for the Most Innovative Knife at the Los Angeles knife show and Best Art Knife at the San Jose show. Other awards include the Best Functional Knife at the Blade show in Atlanta in 1995, and many other awards earned at the Badger shows, Tri-state, Mount Vernon, and the Chicago show. These awards show the spectrum of work Ralph Turnbull is capable of producing: practical, beautiful, and innovative. From an art dagger to a pocket folder, a Turnbull knife is always a masterwork of craftsmanship.

Turnbull was also the first American ever invited to display at the Seki City Knife Show in Japan. The mayor of Seki City bought a Turnbull knife which is on permanent display in the City Hall of Seki. Seki is the headquarters of the Japanese cutlery industry and the home of samurai sword making.

A Good Investment

For anything to be an investment, there must be a broad market for the item. In the case of Turnbull knives, the market is large and active. Turnbull has been producing knives since 1973 with constant high demand. Check the inventories of the leading knife sellers at any of the major shows. Most, if not all, have a few Turnbulls for sale. If they weren't making money on them, they wouldn't keep buying them.

Guaranteed Quality

You can buy a Turnbull knife with confidence. If anything ever goes wrong with your knife, it will be repaired, replaced, or a refund made. No hassle, ever. Ralph Turnbull has been a voting member of the Knifemaker's Guild for the past 22 years and has never missed a guild show. His work has been displayed in every issue of the "Knives" annuals since the first one in 1980 and one of his knives was featured on the cover. His knives have been pictured in almost all of the knife magazines, including those in several other countries. His work is included in virtually all of the world's major knife collections. He was the recipient of Ken Warner's "Wooden Sword Award" for 1999.

Innovation in Craftsmanship

Although traditional manufacturing methods are used in 90% of all Turnbull knives, he has the capability of producing work on the cutting edge of technology including plasma and laser cutting, wire and conventional EDM, CNC milling, as well as titanium nitriding and anodizing. He was the first to popularize the use of various CPM steels for cutlery applications.
