After being left anchored deep in the watery depths of Crystal Lake at the conclusion of the prior installment, Jason is accidently resurrected by Tina (Lar Park Lincoln), a disturbed, Carrie-like teenager with telekinetic powers.
As a child, Tina utilized her unwordly powers to submerge and drown her abusive father in the lake. Now, some years later, she has come back to the scene with her mother (Susan Blu) and Dr. Crews (Terry Kiser), her shrink, to try and exercise the demons that still haunt her.
Once Jason is rejuvenated, he proceeds to slice and dice his way through a group of unsuspecting teens who have gathered at a vacation home for a birthday party. In the film's action-packed finale he goes head-to-head with Tina. She uses her powers in a variety of creative ways to keep the killer at by. She hangs him, shoots nails at him, electrocutes him, and set him on fire.
After none of these seem to down the masked maniac, she finally manages to resurrect her father, who springs up from the watery trenches of Crystal Lake and pulls Jason under.
The film, directed by FX guru John Carl Buechler, was the first in the series to feature Kane Hodder as Jason. Hodder would go on to play Jason in the following two sequels and will once again reprise the roll in the upcoming Freddy Vs. Jason.
