LOCHALSH, ONTARIO

JUST HOW DO I GET TO THE INN?

OSSI TRAVEL INSTRUCTIONS FROM HIGHWAY SEVENTEEN - DUBREUILVILLE - LOCHALSH

1. Take Highway (Hwy) 17 north out of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario for approximately 3 hours. Turn right onto 519 (east) to Dubreuilville. Go approximately 19 miles on 519. Before you reach Dubreuilville you will see signs for the Magpie Industrial Park Road. Do not turn, keep going past this road, but slow down as you are going to cross a bailey bridge (single lane).

2. After the bridge take the first right hand turn (large sign says Goudreau Rd). Follow this gravel road for approximately 11 miles. The road will end and you will turn left. Continue on this road for about 2 miles at this point you will go around the edge of a small lake and as you continue go up a fairly steep curved hill.

3. Approximately 2.5 miles and the road will fork. Take the left hand fork with caution as traffic could be coming on the right hand fork as this is the more travelled road. In a 100 feet or so you will need to stop. This is the 48 road, and you will turn left. Then take the next right. Follow this road for 1.5 miles where you will see a road to the left joining up with the road you are on.

4. You have approximately 5 more miles to go. Stay on the beaten path soon you will see power lines - basically follow the power line (small power line, wood poles) after you have started to follow the power line you will see roads that look inviting off to the right & left. Remember to follow the road that goes in the same direction as the power line. Further on the right you will pass very close to a small transformer station. You will go up a small hill and around a curve, the road is very sandy here. Shortly after this point you will go under the power line. Continue on and you will see a 4'x4' Open Season sign turn left at this road. The road will take you right into Lochalsh just follow it and the OSSI Red, White, and Blue until you see the Open Season sign out in front.

Also watch for red, white and blue stripes on rocks, trees, and power poles. For whatever reason our signs seem to disappear, so we decided to paint the three colours on whatever would be noticeable so occasionally you could see when you're on the right track. We also have small red, white and blue stripe signs, some with directional arrows. These signs are about 1 foot square. Also unless you are riding snowmobiles, as you get onto the gravel roads you may see smaller signs indicating Wawa, Chapleau, White River, Hawk Junction & Dubreuilville, please disregard as these signs are for put in place by the snowmobile club for snowmobiler's.

Note: From Dubreuilville to Lochalsh the roads are gravel then bush road. Travel with care as the bush roads are narrow in places. Stay to your side as much as possible. People do come in with cars at a slow speed, but vehicles built for rougher gravel roads are recommended. Call from Wawa or Dubreuilville so we know when to expect you.
