In February 1982, a group of Afghan Hound Fanciers on Vancouver Island met to form the Vancouver Island Afghan Hound Association. The purpose of the club is to promote the Afghan Hound in all its glory: be it in showing, coursing, obedience or as pets by holding sanction matches, obedience and handling classes and by providing information in the form of pamphlets, seminars, etc.…and aiding in a rescue program as well as holding an annual Specialty.
